“I did. He said he had several things he thought you’d like. I told him I would call when you left the office. He said he would meet you at your home.”

Damon nodded. “Efficient as always, Georgina.”

He led Miley to the elevator, hitting the button for the door to the lobby. They made their way out to a luxury, stretch SUV where he was introduced to a man about Fitz’s age with probably twice his bulk—all of it muscle—who opened the door for him and Miley before getting behind the wheel.

“We could have used my SUV in the secured VIP lot,” said Damon.

“Not until we have a chance to ensure it hasn’t been boobytrapped. Once we know it’s safe, we’ll move it to your house. Brock will be driving us to and from,” Miley said before turning her attention to their driver. “Any problems?”

“Other than Seth said Mr. Knox’s security system was a joke; a high-end, expensive joke but a joke nonetheless. He’s got a team flying down tonight, and they’ll have it upgraded by the end of the day tomorrow.”

“This SUV?”

“Armored with bulletproof glass. It will be where I can see it or secured in Knox’s garage. How are you holding up?” asked Brock.

“I’m fine. I’m glad the team is here.”

“You focus on keeping the client safe; we’ll take care of the rest.”

“Good enough. I want to meet in the mornings to make sure we all stay on the same page. For now, Knox and I will be working on selling our cover so we can draw his ex-fiancée out.”

“She’s got quite the arrest record.”

“She does?” asked Damon. “My HR people did a background check before I asked her to marry me.”

“And I’m sure they did as good a job as they could. But they don’t have our resources or contacts. Franco Acosta has a lot of pull and even more money. He managed to get most of it sealed, but that’s not a problem for us.”

As they pulled through the gates, Miley let out a little gasp. His home was modest as far as waterfront mansions on the Battery went, but he’d loved not only the view but its history, as well. Constructed shortly before the Civil War, his home had been built in the Greek Revival style and had been remodeled after the war to include paired columns on a square portico and a double-tiered semicircular front piazza. Damon had converted what had once been a large sitting room at the back of the house into his bedroom. It had a commanding view of the ocean and its own private bricked patio leading down to the manicured garden below and onto the beach.

Damon shook hands with Seth and was introduced to Jimmy. “Gentlemen, please make yourselves at home. All of the guest rooms are upstairs. I’m sure you’ve met my housekeeper Hattie, and her husband, Percy.”

Seth chuckled. “We did, indeed. They were adamant that we could wait outside the gates until they spoke with your executive assistant and Fitz. After that, they made us feel more than welcome. Your Hattie is one hell of a cook.”

Damon smiled. “That she is. I’ll arrange for you to have privileges at The Carriage House for the duration of your stay, or longer if you like. As it’s my club, and Miley’s cover is as my sub, we will be attending frequently. Let me show Miley to our room and then I’ll leave you to discuss whatever you need to discuss until Marcel, my jeweler, gets here. I’ll be in my office.”

As he led her toward the back of the house, Miley muttered. “I’m perfectly capable of finding my own way.”

“I didn’t say you weren’t. But things are done differently here in Charleston and if we’re going to sell your cover as my submissive, you’ll need to get comfortable in the role. I’m glad to see your grooming was on par with people’s expectations, but you need to at least look as though you’re deferring to me.”

He ushered her into the room they would be sharing and suppressed a smile at her reaction. When the doors opened, her eyes were immediately drawn to the wall of windows at the back that looked out over the water.

“That’s gorgeous,” she said.

“Thank you. I think it’s the best view in the house, so I renovated this space to make it the primary suite. There’s an attached bath and walk-in closet on the right. There should be clothes in there for you. You’re welcome to go through them and return anything you don’t like. If you think there are things missing or others that you would prefer, make a list and we can either go shopping for them or have them brought in. I think shopping would be better as we could be seen together with me indulging you. I’ll let you settle in. My office is at the front of the house in the ground floor turret.”

“We’re just role playing. I know we’ve agreed to more, but it’s still just make-believe.”

“As I told you when we signed the D/s contract this afternoon, I didn’t put an end date on it. If and when you want it to end, you’ll need to be the one to enact the cancellation clause.”

Before she could say anything else, he withdrew, closing the doors behind him and heading to his office. Damon intended to give her every reason to never cancel their contract or their relationship. He hadn’t realized that bringing Miley back into his life had become a goal. Poor girl, she didn’t stand a chance, but he wasn’t about to tell her that.

He sat down at his desk and tried to work on the paperwork he’d been unable to concentrate on at the office. Miley was most definitely a distraction. It was his hope that once they’d settled in together that he would be able to focus on something other than convincing her they belonged together.

I wonder if Fitz has ever considered a Charleston office? The Carriage House could easily accommodate a small satellite office for Cerberus. Something to think about.

A short while later, Miley entered the office with a notebook in hand, taking notes on what she could see. She had changed from the body-conscious cobalt blue dress and killer heels to a pair of jeans that fit her like a second skin and a tank top with a deep scooped neck that showed her well-toned arms and clung to her breasts. Breasts that had proven to be every bit as tantalizing this morning as they had in London. He couldn’t wait to get his hands, not to mention his mouth and a pair of nipple clamps, on them.

“There’s a charity auction we should make an appearance at tonight…” he started.
