“I… I think so, yes. But something went wrong. The young man was threatening to sign it even when the demon told him not to.”
“Wait, the demon was trying to stop you?”
“Yes… he was. He said he loved me.”
“What happened?” Clancy rubbed Vitruvius’s shoulders reassuringly.
“I don’t know.” Vitruvius tried to make sense of it. “I said something about making some changes, he said he loved me and not to do it, and now here we are.” He shook his head. “I didn’t see what happened next, but I did see the book there.”
Clancy’s brow furrowed. “Do you think you may have done this to yourself accidentally? Maybe the demon knew something was going to happen with the book. I don’t imagine demons like having their magical soul contracts messed with.”
“I don’t know.” Vitruvius sighed. “There’s still not enough there, I just… I don’t know.” He cupped the side of Clancy’s face and kissed him firmly. “I don’t want to know. I just… I want…”
“What do you want?”
“Just you.” Vitruvius kissed him harder, licking into his mouth and grabbing at his shoulders. “Please, just you. Just you.”
