“Very small stages, sir.”

“So very small, my love.”

“I love you, sir.”

“And I love you. Always.”

Day 04

The last thing I saw on my alarm was it flash 11:03 PM before the monster’s coils squeezed around me, cutting off my air. I woke up, relieved to see it was 11:02 PM, but then I heard a hiss and I knew the creature was on my bed.

Squeeze

Matt was having the strangest dream. There was something on top of him, something big and heavy, and it was holding him down to the bed. He couldn’t move, his limbs were somehow bound, and he could not break free no matter how hard he tried. Powerful coils were squeezing around him tighter and tighter…

His alarm blared, wailing right in his ears, but then the noise abruptly stopped.

The terrifying constriction continued, but then—

Matt woke up, panting frantically.

He looked around his bedroom, grabbing his chest and trying to catch his breath. He was alone, it was dark, and the glowing face of his digital clock revealed his alarm was due to go off literally at any second. He thought about how it was going off in his dream, and then he noticed the large shadow slinking over the foot of the bed.

Matt frowned, and he tried to blink away the eerie sense of déjà vu. “Wait—”

The shadow pounced, its strong coils wrapping around him and squeezing tight.

It was a snake-man with a trim, lithe upper body and a long scar running down his side. His narrow hips had a light sprinkling of shiny scales where smooth green skin transitioned into a long, powerful tail. His eyes were a bright yellow, gleaming in the darkness like twin beacons.

Matt laughed, and he patted the side of the tail hugging him. “Hey! Good morning!”

There was nothing to be afraid of—it was only his naga boyfriend, Fidi.

“Good morning!” Fidi planted a sweet kiss to his lips. “Sleep well?”

“Yeah, whew.” Matt rubbed his eyes. “Had some weird dream, though. I thought my alarm was going off and I was being, like, crushed or something.”

“Oh!” Fidi grinned sheepishly. “That may have been me.”

“You?”

“Today is Saturday,” Fidi declared. “You are meant to rest and relax on Saturdays. So, I tried to turn off your alarm—”

Matt laughed. “Let me guess. You crawled right over me and squished me while you tried to figure it out?”

“No, I did so figure it out! Hitting it repeatedly worked just fine!” Fidi ducked his head into Matt’s head. “I am sorry for slightly squishing you.”

“It’s fine—”

They both jumped when the alarm rang.

Fidi hissed and swung out his tail to smack it.

“Easy, easy!” Matt grabbed the clock to get it out of harm’s way. “You just hit the snooze button. You didn’t actually turn it off, baby.”

“Hmmph.” Fidi pouted. “Well, I tried.”

“Yes, you did. Good job. A for effort, baby.”
