“I’m gonna fuck you against this locker one of these days,” Sade murmurs, satiated after our long kiss. He winds an arm around my shoulders, leading me down the hallway towards the cafeteria while people stare like we’re the circus.

“We should probably keep these moments to our bedroom, or we’ll never live this down.”

“No can do,” he says, sticking his chin forward. God, he’s mouthwatering in his white shirt and black pants, every bit the golden boy. “I failed every time I tried to keep my hands off of you, so what’s the point of even trying? A lifetime won’t be enough to have my fill of you, so I might as well make use of every moment.”

I smile up at him, my heart filling with glee. He looks so free, so liberated. Happy and calm. Still every bit the dangerous Sade Royales that everyone is scared of, but somehow a more tame version of him. One that will give people a chance, one who will talk before he rips their heads off. Probably because all of his warlord energy goes into making my pussy blissfully sore every night with that big cock of his.

Always hard for me. Always raging with desire that borders on obsession.

“You’ll get used to it, eventually,” he says, and I know he means the stares that drive me to make myself small against him. “You’re going to be Duchess Justine Royales one day, after all. You’re gonna have to stand tall under all the pressure of attention.”

We enter the busy cafeteria, voices and clinking cutlery echoing through the hall. We’ve been separating here these past few days with a very public kiss before he went on to sit at the Kings’ table while I stayed with the girls. This was my desire. I needed time to get them used to this, and he needed to clear things with his guys. Tension is still palpable between him and Carlton, but the mountain king hasn’t claimed revenge so far. Micah made sure to tell him how much of a whore his cousin was, secretly taking it in her mouth and her ass from men in masks while preserving her virginity.

“The reason why she pranced like that on the hallways was that she had a butt plug in her hole the entire time,” I overheard Micah say yesterday. Then a mean laugh filled the students’ lounge.

But now Sade is coming to the table where I usually meet the girls. Adjustment time is over, he argued this morning.

“Well, well, well, isn’t this the golden couple?” Annie exclaims, plopping into her seat next to Mel.

Mel looks at us like she still doesn’t know how to deal with this, but she manages to give Sade a faint smile. They’ll probably never be friends. He’s a powerful arms dealer and leader of paramilitary groups, while she’s training to become a lawyer. But she knows he loves me, she said, in his own twisted way. Also, she has great respect for the lengths he went to so we could be together.

To my jaw-dropping surprise, the other Kings are heading our way as well, all but Chase Daytona, who is still away. Carlton, Micah, and one I don’t know. A young man with a smooth face and intense dark eyes, his moves fluid like a dancer’s–or an assassin’s.

“Who is that?” I whisper to Sade.

“Damon Saevage. The man who took Dogg’s place among the Kings.” Then, after an expertly assessing once-over of the guy, “Rightfully, this time.”

“So, I see that our group is expanding,” Carlton says, dropping his tray right next to Annie, who stares up at him with an open mouth, not even trying to hide her awe. The moment he sits down, she pushes her big glasses up her tiny nose.

“What movie is this?” Mel asks, opening her arms. From the corner of my eye, I catch Eva in the distance, pondering whether to join us or not.

I wave her over and, after a few moments’ hesitation, she starts walking toward us.

But before she can reach us, Micah grabs Sade’s arm.

“We need to talk.”

“It’ll have to wait until after lunch. My fiancee is starving.”

“It can’t.” There’s a finality to Micah’s words that makes Sade go taut.

Micah draws us to the side, far enough from the table so that no one can hear.

He glances at me curtly before he says, “This is actually only for your eyes and ears, bro.”

“Whatever you have to say, you can say it in front of her.”

Micah’s eyes narrow with what looks like worry. “You might want her to sit this one out.”

Sade keeps still, his attitude adamant, so Micah eventually nods.

“Okay, your call. I got something on Romano that we might be able to use.” He glances between us again before he says, “It’s a woman. Apparently, he’s having an affair.”

Sade looks confused. “I would say that’s great news, but why the grim face then?”

“Because of who that woman is.”

Micah produces his phone from the inside pocket of his black jacket and unlocks the screen. The next swipe reveals the picture of a woman in Romano’s arms. It seems to be taken in the lobby of a luxury hotel. His arm is wrapped possessively around her waist in an intimate gesture, even though her face looks slightly disgusted. Her face, that I’ve come to know so well.

“No,” I whisper. “It can’t be.”

THE END
