Except, he didn’t have her phone number, so he’d have to go pay her an in-person visit. Fuck, that was probably not a good idea. His dick began to thicken just thinking about her.

Dante took a deep breath and tried to calm his wayward cock with unwanted thoughts.

Marriage. Kids. Monogamy.

Only, thinking about those things didn’t quash his erection like they normally did. The fuck was wrong with him?

I’m overtired.

Right, and that’s why your dick is excited.

Yeah, being around Sage was definitely a bad idea. Now he knew he’d have to keep his distance. Too bad he had no other way of contacting her.

After finishing his breakfast and downing two cups of sweetened coffee, Dante made his way over to Sage’s farm. It was a short walk, and the air was still hazy, the smoky smell of the fire lingering. It probably would for days.

Unlike their compound, her farm had no locked gate. She had cameras set up, but her property was still vulnerable. Dante hoped to fuck she owned guns to protect herself.

“Never mind that, she’s a grown-ass woman. And she’s nothing to me,” he mumbled to himself.

Dante’s heart pounded hard with every step that drew him closer to Sage’s house.

Why he was nervous was beyond his comprehension. He’d been dropped into war zones for fuck’s sake. Talking to a woman was a piece of cake. He’d been charming his way through the female population since he was a teenager.

Nervous, my ass.

He was full-on sweating by the time he knocked on her door and she answered.

Sage was even more beautiful in the light of day. Dante’s eyes feasted on her curves in tight faded jeans and a plain grey sweatshirt, no makeup, her long hair in a braid over her shoulder. But her eyes were bloodshot with dark circles underneath. She probably hadn’t slept much since the fire. Even still, Dante’s cock was far too excited to be near Sage again.

He cleared his throat and nodded at her.

“Sorry to bother you. I would’ve texted but I don’t have your number…not that I need your number….but…uh…yeah, so I walked.”

Jesus Christ, he sounded like an idiot.

Sage raised one dark eyebrow and gave him an amused stare.

“Gage Hellion wants to meet up with you.”

“When and where?” Sage replied matter of fact, calm as can be.

Like she met up with bikers every day.

“The quarry on route four. Seven tonight.”

“I’ll be there,” Sage replied and slammed the door in Dante’s face.

The fuck?

He knocked again, this time with force.

Sage opened the door again and her intense gaze had his pulse beating double time.

“What?”

“You sure you want to do this?” Dante asked. “Because once you start down an unknown path, you might not like where it leads you.”

“No one, and I mean no one, is going to stop me from finding out what happened to my sister. I don’t care if it means risking my own life. Now I’ve got farm work to do. I’ll see Gage tonight.”
