“I’m going with you.”
“No, it’s not for you to see. They’ve got Cameron and Niara.”
“Then I’m definitely going, whether you like it or not,” Sage replied and pushed his chest.
“Fuck, you drive me nuts!”
“Right back at you.”
Dante stepped back and stood there silently while Sage grabbed a towel and dried herself off.
“Are you going to stand there and stare at my boobs or are you going to get new bandages for my feet?”
“What?”
Sage snapped the towel in front of her. “Re-wrap my feet, please. Then we’ll both head over to the bunker. Wherever that is.”
Instead of replying, Dante moved to the medicine cabinet over the sink and pulled out a first aid kit. Sage sat on the toilet seat while Dante kneeled in front of her and re-bandaged her feet, throwing the wet ones in the garbage.
Even her feet were beautiful. It took all his willpower not to lean over and kiss them.
God, he was so in over his head.
“There,” he sighed as he fastened the bandage. “And Gage didn’t invite you, but I see there’s no point in arguing. Bossy Sage is back. Get dressed.”
“Yes, sir.” Sage saluted him as she stood up.
Dante slid his hand around her waist and swatted her ass.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you. The bunker is where Sonny does his best work.”
Sage’s face suddenly stilled. “I was going to ask what kind of work, but I think I better not.”
“Smart.”
“I am.”
“Brat.”
“That too. But you like it. You like me.”
He chuckled and nodded. “Shut up.”
Sage sauntered out of the bathroom and Dante watched her body with eager eyes. Then his inner grump erupted.
Couldn’t he have one fucking night uninterrupted?
He put the first aid kit back in the cabinet and eyed his tired face.
Not until this thing with Midnight Carnage is done.
“I’m ready!” Sage called out and Dante turned off the bathroom light and headed out.
“Look, Sage, about tonight—”
“We don’t need to talk about it. Neither of us is looking for anything but sex. Despite what you said afterward. The heat of the moment and everything.”
“Well, yeah, but—”
