Suddenly, he pulled out of her mouth and began to jack off, his grunts and moans filling the air. Then Dante shouted her name as he unleashed, hot ropes of cum lashing her cheeks, her lips, her chin. She tasted his cum before the water had a chance to wash it away. And Dante’s dark eyes followed her tongue, his breathing choppy as he slipped down the wall and kneeled in front of her, face to face.

He cupped her chin and kissed her. It was possessive and hungry and she moaned in response.

The phone rang again, and this time, Dante reluctantly pulled away and shook his head.

“I better get that. But I promise to take care of you later.”

He offered his hand to Sage and they both stood up. She watched him as he left the shower, his firm ass cheeks flexing with every step until he was out of sight.

Sage turned her face to the water and quickly washed up.

Stepping out a minute later, she reached for a towel and dried off, then grabbed the first aid kit and re-did her foot wrappings.

She padded out to the bedroom to change and caught Dante’s intense stare as he sat on the bed.

“Everything okay?”

“Gage has been brought in to the police station for questioning about the fires.”

Sage sat down beside Dante. “They’re probably bluffing. I’m sure your businesses bring in much more than the insurance payout is worth.”

“Yeah, but the cops don’t care about shit like that. They know we got illegal businesses too and this is just a convenient way to try to shut us down. It always makes for good press when they can put a biker behind bars.”

“Does he have legal representation?”

“Oh yeah, one of the best in the province.”

“Then he’ll be fine. And the cops’ time would be better spent on my sister’s murder instead of an arson case. No offense.”

“None taken. But don’t be surprised if that’s where it leads.”

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“Remember last night? The cop investigating Rosemary’s murder is in league with Padraig. This arson case is the perfect setup. I mean, it’d be in Padraig’s best interest to throw suspicion on another biker crew. They could claim that Rosemary’s murder was a warning hit from us. They already have Gage in for questioning. How much you wanna bet they’re gonna start asking Gage about Rosemary and try to tie the two incidents together? The cops solve two cases, so to speak, and Padraig gets away.”

Sage thought about all that, absorbing the information. Dante was probably right. And the more she thought about it, the more it made sense. If that happened, if they tried to pin it on Gage, Rosemary would never get justice.

“That won’t happen,” Sage offered. “I investigated the possibility of another biker crew killing Rosemary, but I dismissed it after my due diligence.”

“You looked at us for her death?” Dante stared at her.

“You and several others in the region. Wouldn’t you? You’re a known rival to Midnight Carnage. Killing someone close to them as an act of warning or revenge isn’t so far outside the realm of possibility. Is it?” Sage asked, locking her gaze with his.

Dante shook his head and looked away. “No comment.”

He didn’t need to say anything. His crew had killed before and would again.

Sage glanced up at herself in the reflection of Dante’s mirror. In the light of day, she wondered just what the hell she was doing here.

Maybe her brother had been right. Maybe she was losing it.

Or maybe she was seeing everything clearly for the first time, for the reality it was. The rose-colored glasses were gone. Everyone, herself included, had a dark side. And sometimes, when the pain was so bad, you had no other option but to lash out at the source.

“Everyone in the Hellraiser’s crew is accounted for around the time Rosemary went missing,” Sage continued. “Including Gage. I have the details and I can hand it over to his attorney if needed.”

“No need. Xander already copied all your stuff.”

“What?” Sage leapt up off the bed.
