“Fucking hell! I should’ve gone into farming myself,” Blane quickly replied. “What’s the catch?”

“There is no catch, Blane. I just want to move and start over. And I don’t need much to live on where I’m going.”

“Where to?”

“Mexico.”

Sage had no idea where that came from, but it sounded good. Xander gave her a thumbs up.

“When are you closing?” Blane asked.

“I’m signing the paperwork tomorrow.”

“I’ll fly out tonight. Or first thing tomorrow.”

“Can you get a flight that quickly from B.C.?”

There was a pause.

“I’ll figure it out.”

“Blane, I—”

“I have to go. I’ll call you when I’m nearby.”

“Sounds good,” Sage whispered.

And then he hung up. Sage slipped the headphones off.

“So?”

“Blane’s in B.C. like he said. Now we wait to see if he contacts Raven. My guess is he’ll be eager to tell him he’ll be paying off his debt soon.”

Sage glanced at the phone in Xander’s hand. Then she heard it ping.

Xander glanced down, then quickly looked up again and showed her the phone.

B: I’m heading to Alberta tonight, I’ll be an hour away from you. I’ve got the means to pay you back, in full, swear to God. Then we’re done, right?

“Yeah,” Sage stated out loud. “We’re done.”

DANTE

Later that afternoon…

“Why’re we lying in wait outside their compound? We could be here all night. Can’t we just hit them at their strip club?” Jackson asked as he nervously tapped his thigh.

Waiting was difficult, no doubt. Especially when your adrenaline was pumping. You wanted to act. But they needed to be patient. Timing was everything.

Dante shook his head at the question, then turned to Jackson as they waited in their SUV.

“It’s quiet out here, no neighbors for miles and miles. The strip club they own is in a busy part of town, so hello, witnesses,” Dante replied.

Jackson was a great guy, loyal and hardworking. But he wasn’t a soldier. He was a farm boy with a rebellious streak. He was young, twenty-one, and tended to be a loose cannon. With a sharp mind but a quick temper, the other members knew to keep an eye on him. This was the perfect example.

“I guess you’re right.”
