Someone laughed. A deeper voice.

Sonny? No. Xander.

The guys were here too? With Sage? Where was he?

Dante moved his leg and a sharp pain sparked. He finally opened his eyes. He was in the clubhouse. Well, in a prospect’s bedroom, in the clubhouse.

“What the hell?” he asked as he looked around.

“Don’t move, for god’s sake! You don’t want to tear your stitches!” Sage yelled out.

He turned his head and all he could see was Sage’s hazel eyes, bright with tears. Her nose was red, her face splotchy. She was so beautiful it made his chest ache even harder. Her long hair covered part of her face as she leaned over him. Was she gonna kiss him in front of the guys again?

“Jeez, you just got shot and all you can think about is fucking? Why am I not surprised.” Sage’s sudden laugh was soon followed by more tears.

Fuck, was she crying over him?

Then he remembered the crew, the trip to Midnight Carnage’s compound, the shootings.

His leg…

“How bad is my leg?”

“You’re gonna have an ugly-ass scar but it’ll match your ugly-ass face,” Sonny joked as he stood beside him. “Good to see you awake, brother. Don’t ever scare us like that again.”

Dante nodded and looked around.

Gage was there too and Jesse, Nate, Jackson, Wyatt, Avery, and Rochelle.

“I second that,” Gage replied and nodded. “You did good, Dante. All of you did. Out there and back here. I’ve never been prouder of our crew.”

Jesse stepped forward and placed a bag on the floor beside them. “How’s my patient?”

“In a fuckton of pain.”

Jesse pulled out a blood pressure reader and checked his pulse.

“A little low but almost normal. That’s good. What you need now is rest and fluids. You lost a lot of blood. And I got something here that will fix you up right.” Jesse checked the IV in Dante’s arm and then pulled out a huge syringe.

“Uh, on second thought.” Dante shook his head.

“You have tattoos and piercings, and you can’t take one small needle?” Sage asked as she leaned over and cupped his face, distracting him.

“That’s a different kind of pain. The kind I ask for.”

He felt the sting of the needle in his arm and grimaced.

“Poor baby,” Sage teased.

“Don’t worry, in about sixty seconds, you won’t be feeling anything,” Jesse replied. “Everyone out, my patient needs rest!”

“You’re hot when you’re in bossy doctor mode, Jesse,” Xander quipped. “Feel free to examine me any time. In fact, how about I drop my pants and bend over—”

“Shut it,” Jesse interrupted and stood up. He glanced at Dante again. “Rest. Sage, I’ll be back in two hours to check on him again.”

Everyone filed out of the room.

Sage finally leaned over and kissed him.
