Then Maks and I exchange rings, sealing our commitment with a kiss that sets my soul on fire. I can’t wait to start this new chapter of our lives as husband and wife.

After the ceremony, we move upstairs to the beautifully decorated loft we intend to use as the reception area. A long table is set for dinner, and the aroma of delicious food wafts through the air, making my stomach rumble with hunger. The delicate clinking of glasses and the murmurs of our guests create a comforting background melody.

We settle at the middle of the table and share a few quiet moments together as the food starts to leave the kitchen, the staff placing it before our guests with practiced finesse.

“Well, wife, is today everything you dreamed?” Maks asks, lifting our intertwined hands to place a kiss on the back of my palm.

“More than,” I breathe, and I mean it.

His smile is radiant, and it fills me with a warmth that words can’t capture. I lean close, and we share a tender kiss as the sun dips lower in the San Francisco sky, casting a golden hue over our celebration.

At the end of the evening, after a full night of celebration and fun, our family and friends give us a big send off. Then Maks and I climb into his red Corvette to head to his penthouse for a little alone time.

As we drive, I can hardly contain my excitement. I’ve been holding onto a secret all day, and now I can finally reveal it.

“At last, I have you all to myself,” Maks growls, pulling me into his arms as we step off the elevator into his spacious home.

I giggle, rocking with him as we sway in the entryway. When he leans in to kiss me, I hum appreciatively, relishing in the feel of his soft lips commanding mine.

“I have a surprise for you,” I whisper, pulling back just enough to meet his molten silver gaze.

His eyes search mine, filled with a mix of curiosity and desire. “And what surprise is that, my love?”

I can barely contain my smile as I gently disentangle myself from his arms and lead him to the kitchen where a small, neatly wrapped box sits on the kitchen island. I hand it to him, watching as his eyes widen with anticipation.

“Open it,” I say.

He does, setting the box aside as he lifts a tiny pale yellow onesie decorated with giraffes from the tissue paper. His gaze moves from the little outfit to me, a puzzled expression on his face. Then, it clicks as his eyes fill with wonder and his lips part in awe.

“You’re pregnant?” he breathes, his voice tinged with emotion.

I nod, tears of joy filling my eyes. “I’ve been bursting to tell you all day, but I wanted to wait for a moment when we could celebrate together.”

Maksim pulls me into his arms, holding me tightly. “Heidi, this is the best surprise I could ever imagine. We’re having a baby?”

I nod more emphatically this time, giddy with excitement.

His joy is contagious, and we both laugh as the tears start to stream from my eyes.

“But why are you crying?” he asks, his thumbs brushing across my cheeks as he peers into my eyes.

I laugh again, waving the tears away. “This is just the hormones kicking in. I hope you’re prepared because they don’t get easier from here.”

Maks chuckles in response, pulling me close to his chest once more. “I think I can handle that.”

His steadfast support fills this special day with an even deeper sense of happiness and love. I can’t believe my family is growing, this time with the man I adore, the man who completes me.

Maksim kisses my forehead, then my lips, a tender promise of all the love and support he’ll give me as we embark on this new journey together.

“How long have you known?” Maksim asks, his eyes locking onto mine.

“I took the test this morning.” My heart swells with love for him. “I wanted to tell you right away, but I also wanted to just enjoy our special day.”

Maks smiles, then leans down and kisses my belly, his lips tender against my skin. “I can’t wait to meet our little one.”

Combing my fingers into his hair, I smile down at him. “Me too. Now, take me to bed, husband.”

With an appreciative growl, Maks rises from his crouch. In a flash, he scoops me up into his arms. I squeal at the sudden shift in balance, then I wrap my arms around his neck as he carries me across the threshold into the bedroom.
