He looked hesitant as he set his bottle down and leaned forward.
“The condition is that you stay on with R&H.”
I let my blanket fall free. “Liam…no. I want you to take it and be free of me.”
“I don’t want to be free of you.”
My head fell a bit as I searched for the right words.
“Not like that, I just mean in business.”
His lips thinned as he stared at me, openly showing so much emotion it was unnerving.
“You have a stubborn heart,” I remarked, tucking the blanket back around me.
He laughed, shaking his head. “Still belongs to you.”
My stomach flipped.
So I pressed again. “You have a prideful heart, too.”
His smile grew as he watched me walk past him, and when I was near the sliding glass door, he muttered again, “Still belongs to you.”
I left our bedroom door unlocked that night.

Another note was leftby my bed the next morning, this time with a piece of lilac resting on top of it.

Family Photos
I crinkledmy brows in confusion at the last one.
Before I could think any longer on it, Mila ran into the room and jumped on the bed.
“Daddy wants to be in the pictures that are on the wall, and he wants you in them too, Mama.”
I hugged her to my chest and tried to work out what she was saying. Thankfully Seraph came in next and curled under the blankets with us.
“Dad woke us up and said he wants us to get ready in our nice clothes. He wants new pictures taken so you and him are in them.”
Okay, that’s what Mila had said, but why? I mean, I guess I understood it.
I had purchased photos from a local photographer a few months back. Who had Liam found? I hadn’t wanted him to feel left out of the pictures, but he wanted me in them too, so I suppose it made sense.
“Okay, well, let’s go get ready then. If your dad wants some photos, we’ll get ourselves dressed.”
