We all laughed and then headed inside.

Two huskies were in my space as soon as I stepped foot inside the two-story house.

“Dove, Duke…relax,” Rae chided, and they lowered their heads, moving toward the fireplace.

“Okay, I thought we’d just be in here tonight.” Rae dipped to move the coffee table to the side.

“Sounds good to me,” Nora chimed in from the kitchen, already pulling out the Margarita mix.

Rae eyed the takeout bag in my hand. “Haley, oh my gosh! You stopped at all my favorite places!”

I lifted it. “Oh yeah, we might need to warm some of it up.”

Moving into the kitchen, I placed all the containers on a big platter, Nora made the drinks, and Rae instructed Maddy and Seraph on how to set up a ton of pillows and blankets for us on the floor while she browsed for a rom-com for us to watch.

Once we were all settled and the girls all had a plate of food, we moved on to the dresses.

“These are so beautiful.” I admired each dress that the girls tried on, having them all sized and tailored perfectly.

Nora smiled dreamily as she watched Maddy spin. “They are…and oh my gosh, just wait until we add the crowns.”

Helping Maddy down, Nora turned toward me and Rae. “Okay, now I need to see my bridesmaids.”

Rae walked toward the stairs where she’d hung the garment bags and handed one to me. I had purchased the dress, but we’d had our dresses altered and now needed to try them on one last time before we were in California.

Gripping the garment bag in my arms, I headed upstairs. Maddy, Seraph and Mila had all changed into pajamas and were snuggled on the massive, feathered bed, watching cartoons.

After checking on them, I slipped into the bathroom to change.

In the mirror I took in the subtle curve of my hips that the waistline accentuated and the low dip of the neckline that gave my cleavage a boost. The yellow fabric complimented my skin, but I was paler than usual, which was something I’d have to get used to if I was determined to live this far from the beach. I swept my hair up off my shoulder to test a few different styles until I heard Rae calling for me to come down.

When I returned downstairs, Nora and Rae were arguing over wedding details.

“We can’t get a platform over the garden without it looking like a platform over a garden…” Rae said, shaking her head.

Nora scoffed. “Please do not insult me by insinuating I can’t make a raised platform look like a floating cloud if I want it to.”

They both began laughing as I rounded the stairs and came into view.

A few things happened at once.

Nora’s jaw dropped, Rae’s hands went to her chest, and then the dogs started to bark as the front door opened.

Everyone’s heads turned as boisterous laughter carried in from the foyer.

I froze in place as Davis and Colson walked in, laughing and cracking huge smiles, seemingly unfazed that they’d just crashed our girls’ night. Then a third member joined them, and my breath caught in a painful, frozen gasp.

Liam.

LIAM

It feltweird to be back.

I used to travel all the time when I was on the circuit. I’d go all over the country and even abroad from time to time. But I had never done anything as extensive as a nine week rotation out of the country.

I made a decent amount of money, but half of it was already going to my lawyer because Lacey wanted to go back to court. Again.
