“Keep em’ open, River. I told you, that mess is mine, and it belongs here.”

Flushing the smallest bit, I let him handle me, while he leaned back, watching as his release dripped down my slit onto the seat. With a groan, his finger slid back inside me, dragging the remnants of our joint release from my cunt until it was smearing his seat. “Every piece of you belongs with me when I ride, especially what’s drawn from that body after we fuck.”

God fucking damn. This man and his mouth.

I was already rocking my hips again, because he hadn’t lied, it had been too long since I’d been taken care of, and Wes knew my body intricately.

With a small chuckle, Wes helped me up until I was standing barefoot in the dirt, wearing his cut and nothing else. His eyes blazed as they trailed down my body. The breeze was making my nipples pucker, and the wetness between my thighs had me clenching them together.

“I don’t ever want anyone else on this planet to see you like this. I’m an obsessed motherfucker, too zealous for my own good, but fuck, you’ve ruined me.”

I was back in front of him within seconds, pulling his mouth to mine in another kiss. I wasn’t sure what we’d just done, or if this was a way of hitting reset for us, but I wasn’t brave enough to ask, and I wasn’t strong enough to hope.

Guilt rode me hard as I listened to Killian get his ass chewed by Wes.

I had assumed this little conversation would have taken place yesterday, but I was wrong.

Kill was on the back porch, sipping a cold beer when Wes lit into him about being focused on his own shit and losing focus of what’s on the line. Apparently, it was my life that was on the line, and after talking to Silas, I realized now more than ever how dangerous leaving on my own was.

Once Wes was finished with Killian, both men walked back inside. Max didn’t even lift his head from my lap or move from taking up half the couch. I locked gazes with Killian, seeing his eyes narrow on me in a glare as he passed. I mouthed, “Sorry,” but he ignored me, storming out of the house and slamming the door shut.

“That seemed pretty bad,” I mused, slipping off the couch.

Wes locked the door after Killian left, and then took off his cut and boots.

“He’ll get over it.”

In just his T-shirt and jeans, Wes returned to the living room and tugged my hand into his, encouraging me to follow him upstairs.

“You don’t like hanging out in your living room?” I asked as Wes shut his door then slid the small dresser in front of it because the lock had busted when he kicked it open.

Max had followed us inside, plopping down on a what looked like a brand-new dog bed. It was bigger and plusher than the one I’d brought.

Wes stripped out of his shirt, tilting his head. “Easier to get shot down there.”

That was a sobering thought. It made me curious how many times Wes had been shot at during his time with this MC. But also, it would have been nice to know when I was all alone here last night.

“I chewed Killian’s ass for losing you, but we need to talk about what happened yesterday.”

I silently nodded, watching Wes slowly strip out of his clothes.

“Are we bathing first?”

He smirked. “We are.”

I jumped up, running into his bathroom excitedly.

“I freaking love this tub.”

Wes laughed as he bent over and started the stream of water, ensuring the tub was properly plugged.

I still had my body wash next to the spigot because Wes had no bubble bath. Pumping in a few handfuls of soap, I moved the water around, letting the bubbles froth up. Once the tub was halfway full, I stripped and settled inside, then made room for Wes. He adjusted us so I was in front of him, leaning against his chest, while he caged me in with his legs. Once the tub was full, I turned off the faucet with my toe.

The quiet settled around us, and it was peaceful, comfortable. I shut my eyes and relaxed in the firm chest at my back, relishing when his strong arms came around me.

“You met Silas,” Wes rumbled into my neck, and my eyes popped open.
