“I was very clear and answered all the questions then emailed it right back.” I didn’t think he needed to know how early I’d gotten up to do that, though. “M—Dante was very pleased.”

The big nerd grinned. “Master already, huh? It must’ve been a good weekend.”

I groaned as I rolled my eyes. “He’s Master when it comes to limits kind of things and Daddy for little time. But I can call him by his real name, I just was thinking of the limits stuff and it popped out.”

I couldn’t decide if I was frustrated Daddy hadn’t answered all of Malcolm’s nosy questions or glad he’d respected my privacy…but it might’ve been both.

“I’m not going to ask why he was over there all weekend.” Malcolm’s innocent look was not believable in the slightest. “It’s not my business what kind of scenes and discussions take that much time when you’ve just gone out on one date.”

“Two dates. I’m counting our first as the playdate.” He’d fed me. We’d done stuff. We’d talked. Yep, it was a date.

Now it was Malcolm’s turn to roll his eyes as he took a bite of his sub. When he’d swallowed, he barked out a laugh. “That’s questionable right there, but it’s your relationship, so I’m going to keep my nose out of it.”

Bull.

“Thank you.” But I could at least pretend to believe him since he’d brought one of my favorite lunches. “How was your weekend?”

I was hoping being polite would get me what I wanted, for him to ignore the rest of my stuff with Dante, but that didn’t go as planned.

“I was worried about you and if you were going to screw this up with your insane need to be seen as vanilla.”

He was such a pain in the butt.

“I don’t need to be seen as anything. That’s the point.” I wasn’t in the closet about who I was. I just didn’t need to wear a T-shirt advertising it. “Two of my students were flirting with me. I can’t have that.”

Especially because I was not dominant enough to have made that work under any stretch of the imagination.

Malcolm snorted. “You have guys on campus trying to pick you up on a daily basis. The sandwich guy pouted because I picked up your order. That’s one pup that needs a Dom.”

Huh?

“He’s just nice.” Right? “He’s a pup?”

Groaning, Malcolm let his head fall back and looked up at the ceiling. “Help me find the patience not to kill him. I wouldn’t be able to get his body out of here without everyone noticing.”

Drama queen.

His glare was filled with a different kind of drama when he finally focused back on me. “This is the reason why you’ve been single for so long. You’ve been so nice and professionally you’ve just attracted subs. And you’ve got way too many of them pining for you. Fuck it all, Rus. You’ve got to come out a bit more just to make sure they’re actually paying attention to Doms. You’re screwing up the BDSM ecosystem here.”

“That’s not a thing.” I might not teach biology but I knew that wasn’t reasonable. “The Doms around here are doing fine getting their own dates.”

At least, I thought so, but based on how he was groaning again, I might’ve missed some recent drama.

“You’re being ridiculous.” Gossip didn’t matter.

“You’re being delusional.” Malcolm clearly had a bug up his butt about my life because he didn’t back down. “About several things, really, but I’m mostly worried about how Dante will feel when you hide from him in public.”

Oh, low blow.

“I’m not going to hide from him.” I just wasn’t planning on kissing him or mooning over him. “We’ve got the Christmas party tomorrow, so even if I was considering hiding under my desk and never coming out, that wouldn’t work.”

He gave me a look like he was questioning my sanity.

“I only thought about it for a moment when one of my students this morning asked me about my Thanksgiving and giggled.” She couldn’t have known anything but it still made my heart stop for a few seconds.

Rolling his eyes again, Malcolm took another bite of his sandwich just to make me wait and drive me nuts. “You live right across from one of the biggest sororities on campus, moron.”

Oh.
