We lay still, catching our breath and I relish in the fact that she’s in my arms once again, where she belongs. Until my dick started betraying me that was. Ava goes to move but I wrap my arms around her. “Humor me for a moment, will you?”

She looks down at me then pushes her hands against my chest and leans back. Its than that I feel a warmth on my chest, and I look to where her hand still rests on it. “You’re bleeding.”

She raises her hand and looks at the bite wound from Bones. “Hmm... that’s odd.”

I sit up, the moment lost, and ask, “What’s odd? The fact that your dog bit you and you’re now bleeding out? It’s only natural.” She moves off me and stands, snatches the parchment off the floor and tucks it under her arm. I watch as she walks over to her bag and pulls out a rag.

“No, that I’m bleeding. I never bleed.”

I push myself off the floor and walk over to her. Carefully I take her arm and turn it around to see the puncture wounds. “You’re going to need stitches.”

“Meh, don’t be silly,” she said as she walked to the table and sat down. Bowing her head, she inhaled deeply than looked up at the ceiling and started chanting.

I shouldn’t have been surprised from all that I’d seen in the past twelve hours, but I was. I stood there transfixed as a mist came down from where she was looking at the ceiling to her hand. Within a matter of seconds, the jagged teeth marks sealed, revealing smooth, blood free, satiny skin.

I grab my jeans from the foot of the bed and pull them on as she continues her chanting. By the time I’m dressed she’s done and looking at the parchment paper.

I tap the table and wait for her to look at me. “We need to talk.”

“About what?”

I laugh. “What was that in the bathroom?"

She leaned back in the chair. “That was the Blacken Forest. I figured I would save us a trip through it.” She looked back down at the paper, and I realized it was a map.

I had questions and I was determined to get the answers. “Mind telling me about last night?”

Slowly she raised her head. “I told you already.”

I shook my head. “Not all of it. What happened in the bar to Duke. Was that you, yourmagic. Or—” I shoved my fingers threw my hair. —

“The fact that I’m the grim reaper?”

I nodded. “Yeah...”

She sighed. “Does it really matter?”

“God Ava, you tell me. I’m fighting a battle here of wanting to fuck your brains out and running as far away from you as I fucking can because I could be next on your kill list.”

She laughed. “We already established back at the cabin that we wouldn’t be falling into each others’ arms.”

“Oh, it will happen when you least expect it.”

“Yeah no, and as for you being on my list, you can relax you’re not evil and even if you were I ...”

I spun around and looked at her. “Even if I were, what?”

“Even if you were on the list, which this time there is no list, I wouldn’t do it.”

I grin at that. “See, you want me just as much as I want you.”

She chuckled and shook her head. “Keep thinking that. Now as for your question, the calling of the weapon, my magic, the reversal of time, also mine. The only thing that wasn’t is the weapons themselves. Those have their own powers. I just use them as I see fit. And believe me, Duke deserved every second that I spent with him.” She raised her brows at me. “Satisfied?”

I pulled on the chair beside her and sat down. “Yes. Now what are we looking at?”

“The map to where the artifact is supposed to be. According to this it’s in... that can’t be right.” She wrinkled her nose as she looked at it.

“Please say somewhere warm.” I’d had enough snow.
