"And how did you do that exactly?" Grey Carson opens his big, fat mouth.

"I had him cut a chicken bone with a scalpel." I hear Archer chuckle.

"A chicken bone?" Someone in the room asks.

"Is she crazy?" Someone else asks.

"Yes, to the chicken bone, no to the craziness. In my findings, I deduced that the cut made to dismember Rory's fingers was used with a scalpel. Archer does not know how to use one properly."

Archer glares at me. Oops, I didn't really mean to say it like that.

"Anyways, I can say that we can make a small profile for this person. The first thing is that they were definitely at the club that night watching. They didn't wipe Rory's whole body, so they must've seen what happened. The person might have a surgeon background or something medical-related because of the clean cuts that were made. They also would have needed access to chemicals and medical supplies. Hence, someone who is working in a hospital right now is key. Or who previously worked in a hospital. I also think that since Rory worked at a bank that may have needed his fingerprints for safes, we need to contact the bank and see if anyone has come in to get ahold of anything of Rory's. We should have a surveillance team put on the bank, at least for the next day or two. He might have been targeted before the club. I also need the footage from the bar to go over it and match people's faces with workplaces. Is that okay, Nisa?"

"Anything that you need is yours. With that being said, once Daphne has a list compiled, everyone will get a person or two to interview. The main question is to track what they were doing during the night. Do you have an approximate time of death?" Nisa finishes, allowing me to answer her question.

"Time of death is approximately from 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. Nothing later because they wouldn't have had time to do everything and dump the body when it was found at 7 a.m."

"Well, everyone, we have a lot of work to do. But for now, go home and get some rest. Also, Archer is back on the case since he has been cleared." With that, she leaves the room. Leaving Grey and Archer in here. Holy hell.

Grey stands up and walks to me while Archer hangs in the back, watching his every move. There's going to be another blood bath.

"Well done, Daphne. What do you say we celebrate with a drink or two at my place?" I revolt. I would never get caught in this man's house.

"No, thank you. I would much rather go home and catch up on some sleep. I have a feeling I'm going to be here watching surveillance for a long time."

Archer thinks now's a good time to interrupt, saying, "You heard her, leave."

Grey looks at both of us as if he can see everything. "Ah," he says, "I see that you two have been getting along very well. That is very interesting, really. I wonder if his scalpel cuts were truly horrible or if you're just covering up for him."

He would really think that I wouldn't want a murder to be solved. Mainly because I was with the guy on the table. I look him straight in his eyes and say with enough arrogance to make him back up, "You better watch who you're talking to. You know I would never do that, and if you keep throwing these accusations around, I am going to take it up with Nisa. And we all know how she truly feels about you. Now leave me alone."

"Fine." He looks at me with just as much anger. "Don't listen to me when I say work and dating don't go together."

"The hypocrisy that is rolling off you is so strong. Leave now." With that, Grey storms out of the door, and Archer's eyes collide with mine.

"Well done, little fox. I knew you could take care of him by yourself. But don't worry, if he got handsy, he would soon learn I'm more of a punch now. Talk later, guy." He stalks towards me. "Why don't we take this back to my place? No pressure, my place is closer, and I want you to be somewhere safe."

"Okay. Let's go get the leftovers, and I need my bag."

***

I'm sitting in Archer's living room. His house is stunning inside and out. It's a little white house with a red metal roof. It's not what I imagined for Archer, but I love it. It's in a newer neighborhood that they built two or three years ago. I definitely always pictured him in a penthouse somewhere. All cut and edgy like him. The inside of this place is not that at all. It's very colorful, and there are five different accent walls throughout the whole house; of course, I already snooped on the entire first floor. There's blue in the kitchen, burnt orange in his study, green in his living room, yellow in his bathroom, and a beautiful pale pink in his dining room. The decorations are pretty soft. Enveloping us in a cozy family house.

"You love color, don't you?" I ask him after I see his pink knife set. Who even has a pink knife set. I didn't even know they were a thing.

"I love to make my place as colorful as can be. It makes me happy. I used to get depressed from working this line of work. However, my old therapist once gave me the advice to make my home as colorful as can be to really show the difference between work and home. It has worked out amazingly. I love finding new colorful pieces that I can add."

Why is this man and his colorful house tearing me up? "I love that. If you ever need help finding new pieces or a new color to add somewhere. I would be honored to help."

My place is quite dull compared to this. It's all done in greyscale, basically. But I guess it is different when you rent versus your own. I'm sure that if I owned a place, there would be more spice to it. Archer's house is so unlike him. Well, the him that I know, but maybe the him that I'm getting to know is different. Archer leaves for a second.

"I have the guest bedroom all set. You can sleep in there if you want." He says as he rounds the corner. How cute a gentleman.

"And if I don't want to sleep in the guest room?"

"Well, I do have a pretty nice bed. You are always welcome to join."

"Yes, please."
