I called Nisa on the way here, and she told me to bring it to Daphne's lab so she could start swabbing for DNA or any fingerprint residue. So, because they are my boss's order, I'm heading to who's becoming my favorite person in this department.

But only my luck that I run into Grey Fucking Carson first.

"I heard you found something good, but damn, this guy was rich." He says as he looks at the evidence bag in my hands.

"He was not rich; he probably was gambling it away or owed it to someone."

"The money was still in his possession, though, wasn't it?" He gives me a look of innocence as if he doesn't know that he drives me insane. I'm trying to be the better man in this situation, but it doesn't help that he likes Daphne, too.

"Grey, if you don't get out of my way, I'm going to curb-stomp your neck. We all have work to do."

"Damn, already broke the record of the fastest time to annoy the hell out of Archer Bishop. Thank you for beating my record." I think he gets the hint that I want to punch him because he turns away from me and saunters down the hallway. Thank god. I continue my way towards Daphne's door.

Knocking on her door, I hear that little "come in" that I've

become so familiar with. She's at her computer looking at the face recognition system. Damn, she's still doing that shit. She's probably on the last one. I wonder if she'll get mad because I'm bringing her more evidence.

Rory's laptop is also next to her. She must be running software to download everything on her computer. My hardworking girl.

"I brought you a gift," I say as I hold up the evidence bag of cash.

She looks at me and makes an 'o' with her lips. I would love it if she made that face with me. Holy. "Woah," she says, looking at me and then the money. "Where did you find all that?"

"Rory's floorboards, there was a creak that would only be noticeable if one person was stepping on them, and after lifting it with a knife, I found my own little jackpot."

"Great, so should I be worried that it might be a lesser amount than what was originally under the floorboard?"

"Wow, you think I would steal evidence. What did I ever do to you to warrant that opinion?"

She rolls her eyes. "You obviously know I was joking, jackass. Since you're down here, do you want to help? I doubt we will find a fingerprint, but we can at least try."

"Teach me your ways, Jedi Master."

"Did you just quote Star Wars to me?"

"What if I did?"

"Probably call you a nerd and maybe give you a little kiss on the cheek. See where that can lead." She blushes as she says this.

"Why don't you talk like that after we figure out this cash, huh, little fox?"

"Why the nickname?"

"For me to know and you to find out, maybe." I give her a little wink as she rolls her eyes again. I really do wish I could make them roll all over again, but under different circumstances.

"Come on, Daph, show me how to lift fingerprints."

"Well, if I can lift the prints, that is. I am going to first dust the bills, then use a gel lifter to see if there are actually any prints on the bills. If not, they will be discarded in one pile. If one does show up, I'll put them in a separate pile after I do the gel lifter. It shouldn't take too long because I'm guessing there's not going to be that many prints coming up with the dust. Especially not the middle ones."

"You have to dust all of them? Sorry, I found all this then. Do you want some help?" She shakes her head. "You are something else. I'm goo-"

She's interrupted by an obnoxiously loud ding on her computer. She rushes over there like a child, seeing candy for the first time. "Yay, the last facial recognition is done."

"Why is the ding on the computer the same one that's on a microwave, and why is it fifty times louder? I think you busted my eardrums."

"Stop being a baby. Sometimes, I fall asleep in my office during waiting periods. And fine, if you want to help, you can."
