I look at her, “Not enough sleep.” I barely got any. She’s really annoying me, and she hasn’t even been here for more than five minutes.

She rolls her eyes, “Come on, Daph, we have plans tonight. I’m here to do some much-needed upkeep on that hair of yours.”

I touch my hair that’s still in a messy bun. Well, more unkempt bun after that nap.

“Fine, Cor, you can come in. But after you brighten my pink up, you’re out of here.”

“Done.”

She smiles at me. I simply cannot be mad at my favorite person in the world and smile back. “You’re brushing your own hair, though I am not dealing with whatever that is.” She points at the top of my hair.

I roll my eyes. “Okay, can we just get on with it? I would like to take a nap before we go out tonight.” I pause, trying to remember where we’re going. I can’t remember for the life of me. “Where ar-”

“We are going to the new place, Blaires. It’s supposed to be super posh inside.” Cor rudely interrupts like she knew what I was going to say in the first place.

“What the hell does posh mean?”

She shakes her head at me. “You are a scientist. Aren’t you supposed to know what words mean?”

“The only words I know are body parts and words to describe what happened to them.”

“You’re insufferable.” She rolls her eyes at me, and I roll them back. “Okay, let’s get this hair dyed.”

I go grab a chair from my dining room and brush my hair while she’s setting up the dye.

Hours later, I’m looking at myself in the mirror. My hair is freshly done, the pink as vibrant as ever. I’m in a black skin-tight dress with rhinestone straps. I did my hair in curls to show the depth of the brown and pink. My makeup is light, only choosing a sparkly lip gloss to complete the look. My heels are simply black with a red bottom. I guess I look good. I go out of my bedroom and look at Cordelia.

“Ready?” I ask as I look her up and down. She’s in a brown leather skirt with a black crop top on. Her hair is in a high ponytail, blonde as ever. We do not look like siblings.

She does the same look over and says, “Damn, sis, you look hot.”

“Oh, shut up.” I grab my bag, and we head out to walk over to Blaires.

Archer

Me and Liam are sitting at the bar. I’m drinking scotch while he’s downing tequila shots like they are nothing. “I think you should maybe slow down.”

Liam looks up and says, “I’m good Arch. I can handle it.” This is going to be a long night. I take a sip of my drink and wish I wouldn’t have been swayed to come. Screw Liam’s dry spell. I’m tired, and this scotch is doing nothing for me.

“Liam, I think I’m going to head out.”

He looked at me while slurring his words. “No, you can’t; we just got here.”

“We got here two hours ago.”

“Fine, leave your best friend all by himself.”

“I’m not; I’m calling you an Uber.” I go on my phone to order a car to come here and put in Liam’s address for the drop-off.

“Aww, come on, Arch, live a little.”

“I do-” All of a sudden, I’m being bumped into, and I lose my footing, and I go down along with my perpetrator.

“Watch where you’re going.” I look up, and those piercing blue eyes meet mine. I instantly regret coming here. What was I thinking? Daphne looks at me with a sense of absurdity.

“What are you doing here?”

“Well, unlike your lab, I was actually welcomed here with open arms.”
