"Liam, I can't; I wanted to get out of your little business. I mean, I'm an FBI agent that does illegal stuff. That's very hypocritical."

"Please, I can't do this one without you. I don't know if I would walk out of there if you weren't there."

This is his way of guilt-tripping me. He knows he can fight and take down about five to six people. But it works every time; he knows I'm too scared to lose him.

"Fine. Where do we meet?"

"I'll just pick you up from our spot. See you at ten." I hang up and check the time it's only five. That gives me time to sleep, and I want to check on Daphne. I should call her right now, but walking home makes me feel more exhausted than usual.

I make it to my house in fifteen minutes, speed walking to get home. I need a good hour or two nap before I go do this with Liam. We have a designated spot where he picks me up. It's on the corner in a neighborhood that no one wants to go to due to gang violence. No cameras anywhere; the perfect place to be picked up to do illegal shit. Getting in my house, I go right upstairs to my room and pass out on my bed.

Waking up, I stretch and grab my phone that landed next to me. It's been two and a half hours. Not nearly enough, but it was perfect timing to eat something and call Daphne before I went to the spot to meet Liam. I quickly change into gray sweats and a black tee. Running downstairs, I head to the kitchen to make something. I think I want a soup, so I go grab a premade one from my closet. Chicken noodle soup will do, and a little salad. I start making the food, chopping carrots and cucumbers for my salad. Today's dinner is effortless, but I like to keep it simple sometimes. Especially when I have to go meet with Liam. The deals are sometimes a bloody mess. I'm also going to have to tell him about Daphne's uncle. My gut turns

she can never know. But I already know she never will know that I know him. Plating my salad and soup, I sit on my island and eat, sending Daphne a quick text.

Me: I hope you had a good rest of your day and got a lot of sleep. I just woke up from a nap. Can I call you?

Little Fox: Yes, please.

Well, that was a fast response. I was thinking she was still sleeping off what happened with Grey. I press the call button, and she answers on the first ring.

"I figured you would call sooner." She says instead of a hello.

"I passed out when I got home. I had a very extensive workout this afternoon and had to sleep it off." I already know that she's blushing like crazy after mentioning what happened today.

"I did all the work." What a little instigator.

"Are you saying you want me to do all the work next time?" I'm no better than she is.

"Yes, please. Tonight?"

Ugh, sometimes Liam is a total cockblock. "I can't. Liam is coming over to vent about a new hookup that went wrong. He needs my shoulder to cry on."

"Oh." She seems so sad, and I don't like it one bit.

"But I do have a proposition for you. My sister's wedding weekend. All the sex you deserve jam-packed in one weekend?"

"Hm, well, you did already tell her I was going. When is this wedding?" "In a couple weeks, I already have the room booked and our plane tickets purchased." In fact, I bought them before I confronted her in that damned conference room. I was a little too confident for no good reason.

"You already have everything planned? Isn't that too much thinking ahead. What if I said no?"

"Eh, I would've sold the plane ticket, and the hotel room would've been nice because I upgraded it. I would've enjoyed it by my lonesome."

She laughs, "Well then, I am all set for this fun weekend, aren't I? Where was it again? Did you already tell me?"

"It's in Salem, Massachusetts. My sister loves the feel of it there. But we are staying in Boston and just driving there."

"Ooo, I've never been. You're already taking me to new places." It sounds like she's excited.

"I'm excited to go too. I have it booked from Friday to Monday, so we'll also have time to do something on Sunday and then Monday morning."

"Sounds like a plan; how much do I owe you for everything?"

"Nothing. I invited you; you don't pay for something that you were invited to." I check the microwave clock, and it says 8:30. It takes me about an hour to get to the pickup spot. "Hey, Daph, I really hate to do this to you, but Liam is on his way over. I'll see you at work tomorrow and make it up to you."

"Well, when you put it like that, I'm not as mad at you for
