"Liam Webber." The guy lifts his hand to shake Liam's.

"Jace, I don't know your last name." Liam sits and takes his hand to shake it. The guy laughs. I sweep the room quietly. I only see two people and the guy who walked us in, so three total.

"Let's talk business, shall we?" Jace says. He has an accent that I can't quite place. Maybe French? Or Spanish? Liam gets comfortable in the seat, trying to appear like he should be the one who is boss in this situation. I get comfortable standing.

"Today, you will owe me 20,000 dollars as a down payment

to get the drugs shipped here. When they are shipped here, you will owe an additional 50,000 for the drugs themselves. When you sell them all, you stand to profit about 200,000 dollars if you sell them for what they go on the market right now. I only want ten percent of that profit. The rest is yours to keep. Sound fair?"

"Hm, so in technicality, I am profiting around 110,000 dollars? I think I can make that work. I also know where to sell the product for more. Rich white people, such as yourself, love to get high, and they'll do it at any cost."

"You can sell them at whatever price you would like. As long as I get my percentage, I don't care. The more you sell them, the higher my paycheck is. The money today and for the shipment is strictly for that. I take no cut of it." Liam is lying through his teeth that money is strictly all his. He already has the drugs in the country, and they cost way cheaper than 70,000 dollars. But I keep my mouth shut because I get the briefcase today for my troubles.

"Deal." Jace waves over a guy who's carrying a briefcase. He places it on the table and opens it. "20,000, just like we agreed on. It is a pleasure doing business with you; I expect a call within two weeks. If there's not a call, trust me, Liam Webber, I will hunt you down."

"There will be a call. I'm all about making money." The two shake hands. Well, that was easy; Liam needs to do business with this guy all the time. Liam gets up, and we walk out of the door.

Once we're through the entrance that we came in, Liam looks at me. "Was that too easy, Arch?"

"I wouldn't question it. We'll ditch the briefcase once we're out of here, and I'll check for trackers on the car somewhere on the road. I just want to get out." I have way too much happiness in my life to be shot because of Liam's business.

Chapter Thirteen

Daphne

I wake up feeling refreshed, with no stress of being on a high-profile case. Last night was fun. Cordelia came over, and we watched our favorite children's movie, Coraline. Just in time to get us in the mood for Autumn and the spooky season. We sat there and ate popcorn, cuddled, and drank hot chocolate. Just like in old times, it was simply perfect. And I get to see her again today for lunch. I never know how much I miss her until I am with her.

I told her all about Archer, everything. My office, my apartment, the park, she was most surprised. Of course, she moved from the couch to the floor, but it's all good, she approves, and that's all I need. I told her that he still had secrets, though. Some that he better tell me sooner or later or there will be problems. I can't confront him, though. He needs to come to me, or he might lie his way out of my questions. I quickly get ready and text Cordelia on my way to work.

Me: Hey, did you make the reservations?

Cor Bear: Yes! Noon at The Salad Shop. See you there.

Me: Can't wait for my favorite salad. See you soon.

The Salad Shop opened up last year, and I think I've already been there about a hundred times. They make unhealthy salads with all the toppings you can ask for. It's one of Cor's and mine favorite places to go. Walking to work is pretty much the same as usual; I did see a very questionable guy who only had his underwear on. Maybe a dare, or he woke up from the bar like that.

Soon, I'm walking into my second home. They took Rory during the night. His family will be able to have services done and finally get some peace of mind that he has justice and they have answers.

I start to prep my station for the skull and bones. Elmer's glue, tweezers, paper towels, and Q-tips. All the essentials to putting this thing back together. I think I'm going to start working on the rest of the man's body since they are fractured into larger pieces. I'll be able to hopefully finish everything from his neck down today. Then, finish his skull entirely on Monday. I think that's a fair enough

schedule for me to complete. I haven't talked to Archer since last night. I hope Liam is okay; I still haven't fully met him. Maybe they will be available for lunch. I should text Archer.

Me: Cor and I are going to The Salad Shop. Wanna join? Your friend Liam can too. I still haven't met him formally yet. : )

Arch: I will definitely be there, beautiful. I'll see if Liam can make it. If I say that I'm paying, he'll be more likely to come. He's always loved free food.

Me: Walk together there?

Arch: You know you don't even have to ask me. When?

Me: I'm leaving here at 11:45. See you in a little bit. Maybe we can have dessert in my office?

Arch: Now, now calm down. Don't get me all worked up if you're going to just be pulling cheesecake out of your mini fridge.

I laugh before sending the following text.

Me: Guess you'll just have to find out.
