Elena had looked so sad afterward. Rowan could understand. She had just lost her mother to a violent intruder. Just as she had lost her father. This loss broke her, though. Rowan could tell. He could see it in her eyes. She’d lost her reason to live.

Nothing had prepared him for Elena requesting for him to break their mindlink, though. He could understand that she was hurting and felt lost, but it was such a hasty decision. The mindlink was the unique identity that pack members shared among themselves.

Not only would she become a rogue if Rowan did it, it was a very painful process as well. He asked if she was sure about the decision and she claimed she was.

“Let’s face it, Alpha Rowan,” she’d said. “There’s nothing more for me in Moonwood. I love the town and I love my brothers and sisters, but a lot has happened recently. I’ve never left this town, you know? I’d like to see what the world looks like. Please, break the mindlink.”

Rowan had tried to be as humane as possible, but in the end, he’d done as she’d asked. She had left Moonwood the same day, with that dead look in her eyes.

“I do worry for her as well,” Rowan said to Juniper. “The life of the wolf is the pack. The pack raises you, shelters you, feeds you, protects you. Loves you. Life as a rogue…it can be hard. It gets lonely.

“Still, she has a place in this pack if she ever decides to return. I promise. The difference between her and a rogue is that she will always have a home here in the Moonwood pack.”

Juniper looked obviously relieved to hear that. Rowan pulled her close and draped an arm over her waist. He kissed her forehead and rubbed her belly gently. “We’re going to be alright. We’re going to figure it out.”

“I believe you,” Juniper replied.

Rowan’s hand lingered on her belly, which had started to swell slightly. “Looks like our little pups are growing quite fast.”

After the fight against the vampire, they’d visited the healer to confirm that the baby was okay. Not only was the baby okay, the doctor had revealed that there were triplets in her belly.

Rowan had been so full of joy he had let out a howl, to his embarrassment. Now, he couldn’t go a moment without touching her belly. He couldn’t wait for the kids to finally come.

“Yes,” Juniper replied. “I can also feel their magic signatures.”

“Do you know what gender?”

“Unfortunately not yet,” she said. “I can’t see them yet, but I should know soon. But from what I can see, they will be a mixture of you both — that is of a witch and a werewolf.”

Rowan wrapped his arms around Juniper lovingly. The prospect of being a father filled him with more joy than he could express.

“So,” he said. “How are you feeling? Think you have the energy to go again?”

Juniper chuckled and kissed him. “Oh, Rowan. Do you ever get tired?”

Rowan feigned incredulity. “Of you? Never, my love.”

He leaned over her and kissed her softly on the lips. She tasted delicious and gave him a heady sensation. He felt his cock swell with excitement and it brushed against Juniper’s thigh.

She cooed and reached out to stroke it. Rowan bit her neck softly, eliciting a hiss of pleasure and pain. He kissed her chest, her belly, and her groin.

He spread her legs and went on to feast on her sweetness. Her sweet moans filled the night, saturating his senses, and Rowan wished for the night to never end.

Epilogue - Juniper

Time flashed by furiously for Juniper after the fight with the vampire. It seemed like just a few weeks had gone by from the day she got off the bus that brought her back to Moonwood.

She could still remember the feeling of dread she’d had returning to her hometown. The way her hands had felt clammy wrapped tightly around her bags. How the familiar sights had filled her with bittersweet nostalgia.

That was over a year ago now. As she fixed a pin through her hair, securing her veil in place, she reflected on all the changes that had happened to her. It did seem like only a few weeks, but a lifetime worth of events had happened.

She was just surprised that somehow, she was still alive. Of all the things that made her smile today, that was the most important. She’d thought herself dead some months ago…and yet…

She had a pack who had come to accept her. She felt like she finally belonged, for the first time in her entire life. She had three beautiful children, the most beautiful things she’d ever seen. And she had her mate.

Blushes rose up her cheeks as she thought about Rowan. She glanced around the dressing room in embarrassment, even though she knew she was alone.

She still felt like an adolescent girl every time she thought about him. No matter how much time had passed, regardless of their shared history, he still managed to disarm her and turn her into a schoolgirl.
