Richard brought Noah in for a hug. “I’m proud of you, Noah.”
“Thanks.”
“Not just for today but for standing up to me two years ago. If you hadn’t, I don’t know where either of us would be today. Thank you for giving me a second chance and for allowing me to be a part of Mason’s life.”
“Of course.”
Shortly after Mason was born, Richard had apologized to both Noah and Sophie. He’d told them that he saw the errors in his ways and that he wanted to be better. That he wanted to be a part of their family, if they would let him. It had taken some time, but Noah was getting used to having him around. And watching him be a committed grandfather to Mason has been a healing experience.
“There’s one more thing I’d like to discuss with you.”
“What’s up?”
“I know you said you weren’t interested anymore, but I wanted to offer you the official CEO position at Birch Industries.”
Noah was shocked. “Are you serious?”
“Yes. You earned it. As long as you promised me that you don’t let it get in the way of your family. I want them to remain your first priority.”
“I don’t know what to say,”
“Just say yes.” His father grinned.
“I have to discuss it with Sophie first but yes. Thank you.” He couldn’t believe he had just been named CEO after everything he had gone through to get it.
“All right, then. Let’s go take some pictures.”
Richard walked back to the group and Noah observed them.
This entire thing was a dream come true, a picture-perfect moment. Something that Noah had once thought impossible.
Sophie was holding Mason on her hip, laughing at something her mother had said. Bradley and Keira clung together as they talked to Amy and her husband. Richard was now discussing golf with Mike.
Everything Noah had ever needed was standing ten feet in front of him.
He had never been filled with so much joy, so much love.
“Are you coming?” Sophie called to him.
“I’m coming, Mrs. Birch,” he replied with a smile.
