“Yeong, Mr. Cho, th-th-th-this is my Papa, Rrr-Rome. And my Dad, Benji.”

I reach out, shaking the hand of both of the omegas. Benjamin waddles over and smiles, shaking their hands as well. “Nice to meet you both. Are you in the same grade as Tanner?” Benjamin asks, putting the young omega at ease.

“Yes. We have pretty much every class together.”

“That’s good. I’m glad he’s met a friend here. Would you two like to stay for dinner?”

Mr. Cho shakes his head. “These two begged me to order pizza.” Tanner looks at Benjamin with an apologetic look, but Benjamin just laughs.

“This one loves pizza,” I say, wrapping an arm around Tanner’s waist. I’m happy that he doesn’t pull away with embarrassment at my show of affection.

“Same with Yeong. And please, call me Kwan. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot of each other.”

We chat for a few more minutes until Benjamin needs to check the food. Tanner hands Zane to me and rushes off to get his bag, Yeong in tow. I offer Kwan a seat and we talk about his work. He’s a college professor, teaching History at the local university.

“Ready,” Tanner announces. He walks over and hugs Benjamin, my omega hanging on tight like he’s going away to war.

“Unhand him, baby. He’ll be three houses down.”

With his cheeks red, Benjamin does as I say. Tanner hugs me and kisses Zane on the head before they all wave and breeze out.

Smiling, Benjamin says, “Ugh. My kid’s first sleepover. I’m not ready.”

Rolling my eyes with a grin, I walk over to him and kiss him gently. “You know what this means, right?”

“I do,” he answers, saddling closer to me. “I can walk around naked?”

He laughs when I give him a look. Before I can retort, the doorbell rings. “This conversation isn’t over,” I tell him, kissing his nose.

This time, it is Mason and Brandon. Immediately, Mason takes Zane from my shoulder, then gives me a one-armed hug. Ever since we came over with Tanner, Mason and I have been getting to know each other better. He seems to have lost the grudge he had against me for how I treated Benjamin when we first met. I still beat myself up for it, but there’s nothing I can do to make it better but treat Benjamin with all the love and kindness that he deserves.

“Got him to nap, huh?” Brandon asks, kissing Zane’s head after Mason bends down low enough.

“Not me,” I say ushering them into the kitchen. “Tanner.”

“He is amazing with Zane. Maybe we can hire him as a sitter when we all need to go out.”

“It’ll have to be in the next few weeks,” Benjamin says, coming over to hug Brandon and Mason. “I can’t leave him alone with a newborn and I probably won’t want to be separated from the baby too early.”

“Truth,” Mason chimes in. “I think it took us a few months before we let you take Zane and even then, I was a mess all night.”

We all laugh and we sit while Benjamin fixes our plates. I’ve learned not to offer to help him with small tasks like this that don’t require any exertion. The one time I did, I heard more colorful language than I care to repeat. He felt awful afterwards, apologizing profusely for being rude. We sat down to talk and he said, since he was in his first trimester, he was able to do the things he did before. I conceded, telling him if he did need my help, all he had to do was ask and I would be there.

Then we had some of the most mind-blowing sex I’ve ever had. Make up sex is amazing.

Dinner is great, even with Zane waking up in the middle and eating most of Brandon’s food. I clean up the dishes since Benjamin has been on his feet all day. Brandon and Mason keep him company until I’m done, then take their leave.

Flopping on the couch beside Benjamin, I lie on his thigh, kissing and rubbing his belly. With a huge smile on his face, Benjamin runs his fingers through my hair. I feel movement against the side of my face, our son kicking me like he usually does after dinner. Benjamin winces, pushing against his belly. “I swear this kid loves sleeping on my bladder.” I laugh and lift my head, watching him waddle off to the bathroom.

I put a movie on and wait for him to come back, a little bereft that it’s just me and Benjamin. I’m used to Tanner sitting with us, watching a movie, or playing on his phone. Even though he doesn’t say much, he’s good company. It feels weird without him.

When Benjamin comes back, I pull him on my lap. “How did the home visit go?”

A smile stretches his face. “Great. The social worker said everything looks good, Tanner is doing great and thriving, and he’s doing well in school. We have a court date two weeks from now to finalize the adoption.”

I squeeze Benjamin tight to me—being careful of his belly—kissing all over his face and hair. “Thank the Gods. Have you told him?”

Benjamin nods. “He’s pretty excited too. He can’t wait to take your last name legally.”
