“Prove it.” This was what we’d started saying to each other the past few weeks, like a game. Our usual way to resolve it was to take it to the bedroom and set about proving ourselves. Proving our love. “But not out here.”

We both laughed, then our lips found each other’s for a soul-connecting kiss. Not breaking contact, I lifted her off the deck until her legs wrapped around me. My hands slid down to her ass to hold her, and, still kissing her, I turned to rest the backs of my fingers against the railing, shielding her from the wet surface.

When we paused for air, I said, “One more question for you. Will you become Juniper’s mom? Make it official by adopting her?”

Quincy’s tears spilled over the rims of her eyes. “Yes! Of course I will. In a heartbeat. I love that baby girl as if I gave birth to her myself.”

“I know you do.”

“How soon can we do that?”

“I’m not sure, but having Gina’s forms will help. I had an idea in the meantime though.”

“Yeah?”

“How would you feel if we started making more babies right away?”

“You want more babies?” she asked, her teary eyes sparkling as I’d hoped.

“With you I do.”

With an audible outburst of happiness, she lunged into me for another kiss. When she pulled away, she asked, “And you want to start right now?”

“Hell yes. This ‘old dude’ isn’t getting any younger, you know.”

She laughed. “Neither am I. I am, however, getting wetter, and I mean that in an urgent, nondirty way. My butt is soaking wet and cold.”

I lifted her away from the railing, pulling her softness against my erection. “Let’s go in and get those wet pants off. I’m just the guy to warm you up from the inside out. Tonight and every night after, baby making or not.”

“Tonight and every night after,” she repeated. “I can’t wait for you to prove it. For the rest of our lives.”
