"I love you."

She whispers before her hand goes limp in mine, and her eyes roll back.

"SHE'S FLATLINED, DEFIBRILLATOR NOW."

My heart stops as Doc starts CPR.

No, no, no.

Someone pulls me out of the way, and I look up to see Meghan gripping my shoulders, tears staining her cheeks while her eyes stay on the scene. I look back in time to see Doc shock my girl.

"CLEAR."

Everyone moves out of the way as her body jolts.

They look at the monitor—nothing.

My breathing picks up.

Please, baby, don't leave me.

"AGAIN, CLEAR."

They shock her again, but still nothing. Meghan sobs and I grip her hand, not taking my eyes off my lifeless girl, blood staining her chest.

"Come on, Precious, come back to me," I mumble as Doc tries again.

He presses the button, and her body jolts again.

Beeping enters the room, and we sigh in relief as Doc scrambles, "O.R. NOW. MOVE, MOVE, MOVE."

They all rush as Meghan pulls me back, helping me stand before they run my girl out of the room, leaving nothing but a puddle of her blood on the floor.

"Come on, l-let's wait in the w-waiting room; we n-need to get-get you out of this r-room."

I nodded with my eyes still on the blood, making her pull me out of the room before leading me to the same waiting room we sat in, waiting for Annalise. We round the corner just as my Uncle David comes into view. He furrows his brows when he sees me and the state I'm in before excusing himself from the conversation with some nurses who he's trying to take statements from. He grips my shoulders, his gray eyes looking at me with concern.

"You know the victim."

My tears fall hard, my pain shows over my face, and his eyes go wide with realization while he shakes his head. "No, not Mel."

I nod as a sob pulls from my throat, and his grip tightens as he pulls me into him, holding me tight. He and Mel have gotten close this past month, much to Stormy's dismay. She's still pissed at him, and rightfully so, though she is the reason why I haven't handed in my patch just yet.

My sobs rip from my chest.

I can't lose her; I can't.

We pull back when we hear a sob coming from Meghan, and I pull her into my arms, tensing with her touch but trying to ignore it. David squeezes my shoulder and says, "I will call your dad. I know the shit he did, but you need him, son."

I nod before I rasp, "Call Gunner first."

He nods back and makes the call before I help Meghan sit.

"What happened, Meg?"

I need to know. I need confirmation that this is my fucking fault.

It doesn't take a genius to know the gun belongs to Cassidy.
