I grin at her and kiss her cheek again with a loud smack, making her giggle. I hear Gunner growl again on my way out, and I shake my head. The man needs to get his shit together before she finds someone who will see her worth.

I leave the bar, heading home for some sleep before church in the morning, while trying to put a plan in place and get my head around the fact that I've found my one. The connection was instant. I never believed in it. I always thought the brothers who fell spoke out of their asses, but I was wrong.

Fuck me, was I wrong!

I need some advice; I'm way out of my depth here, and maybe my big brother is the man for it.

Chapter 4

Sophie

I brush my long red hair before looking at my bedside clock. "Shit," I mumble. I have five minutes before leaving for the extra hours I requested at work. I quickly work on putting my hair in a messy bun on top of my head when my phone rings. I peek at it to see that it's Todd. Shit, I don't have time for a full conversation, but I know Leah decided to spill the beans from the other night and the God of a man who I instantly felt a connection with.

It was like he was all I could see.

Ink.

Crap, I sigh, still feeling like a complete idiot.

I grab my phone before answering it. I need my male best friend, which is what he's become to me.

"I'm a moron and a failure."

I hear his chuckle: "Well, good morning to you, sunshine."

"I'm serious, Todd. I waved. I flipping waved at the hottest man I have ever laid eyes on like an idiot before I left the bar."

I sigh again before falling back on my bed, looking at the clock again. Three minutes until I need to leave—crap.

I get back up again and put the phone on speaker as I grab my bag, shoes, and coat.

I hear full-blown laughter, and I shake my head, knowing it's his boyfriend, Alex before Todd speaks again: "You're not a failure, and from what Leah has told me, you entranced the man."

I feel myself blush as I pick up the phone, place it to my ear after removing the loudspeaker, and head into the small living area as quietly aspossible, knowing Leah's asleep. I look around and smile when I notice she cleaned up last night. There's no dust on our glass TV stand, and the black sofa has been cleaned. Shaking my head, I go towards the door. She's been struggling lately with putting herself through law school and her job at the bar, especially with Gunner sleeping around with Cara right in front of her.

She loves him; he consumes her thoughts day and night, but he doesn't see her that way.

I shake my head, returning to the phone conversation as I lock up.

"The man is literally sex on legs, Todd; he's way out of my league."

I hear him snort, "No, you're way out of his league." I smile before he sighs, making me furrow my brows as I climb into my Jeep. "Listen, Alex and I have been talking, and maybe we need to come clean to my dad so you can see where things go with this guy. Leah said she's never seen you like this, not even with Josh." Now, it's my turn to snort. Josh is a pratt who keeps showing up whenever myself and Todd hang out after someone's told him about our 'date.'

"No, we only have three months to go, Todd. You're getting your bank and your man, end-of, and besides, he's a biker."

I hear Alex shout in the background, "THEY'RE THE HOTTEST KIND, SWEETCHEEKS," I laugh while Todd agrees, "He has a point. OK, so we keep doing what we're doing, but I still think you should see where it takes you with him. Soph, I know you've only ever been with Josh, but maybe it's time to change that."

I sigh before sitting back in my seat because I know he's right.

After I broke up with the ass, my whole attention was on school and my father, and now it's been on work and my Momma.

"I will. As soon as the arrangement is off and you've finally got what you deserve—the bank and your happiness—now I've got to go. I love you."

I can hear the smile and gratitude in his voice as he says, "I love you, Soph, and this conversation is not over; you deserve happiness too," before I hear Alex shout, "LOVE YOU, SWEETCHEEKS."

I chuckle before we hang up. Smiling, I put my Jeep in drive and headed to work. I don't know why I'm worrying anyway; it's not like I will see him again.

I've been at work for a few hours when my phone rings. I smile at Mr. Whiskers, the tabby cat on my bench, before grabbing it.
