She smiles wide. "Oh, Ink, you are a very delusional man. She is giving you a chance. Every day you're here, she smiles more; she just doesn't realize it yet. Yes, your words hurt her, and yes, you didn't treat her as well as you should have at the beginning, but she got her payback when she kneeled you. She's just making you work for her forgiveness and gain her trust back, making you grovel like I expected her to and grovel like you have. Sleeping on that couch alone is enough groveling in our books; the thing is very uncomfortable after a few hours."

I chuckle and nod, but guilt still harbors in my gut. "But what about Leah?"

She smiles and says, "As I told you, they're more like sisters than friends, and they were due to fall out. I think the last one was when they were 7, and Sophie broke Leah's favorite doll by accident. Leah didn't speak to her for three months. They'll fix it, darling; they always do, and in the meantime, Leah comes round here when Sophie's out, so I'm in her ear."

I laugh, shaking my head, before Ashley gets a serious look on her face, making me furrow my brows. "I want you to promise me something, Ink. I need you to promise me." I nod, letting her know she has my full attention. "I need you to promise to always look after her, give her the life that she dreams of, and always, always put her first. Make her feel special and loved always."

I tilt my head about to say something but stop as my girl comes down the stairs in tight-hugging jeans and a white V-neck t-shirt. Her red hair is down, and she's wearing minimal make-up.

Fuck me, she looks good.

Ashley hums and nods her head with a smile, obviously liking the look on my face towards her daughter, which most likely shines full of love towards her.

"I promise," I rasp as Soph approaches us and takes my cup from my hands.

Taking a drink from it, I smile at her and say, "Morning, Pixie."

She looks at me and smiles, "Morning, Jackson."

My smile turns into a grin, and I look towards Ashley, who is smiling wide, too, nodding her head. She was right; she is letting me try, and it seems like she's getting ready to give in because she's finally called me Jackson for the first time in months.

Next step: get her to call fucking Leah.

I smile as I get up before I kiss Soph on the forehead, making her suck in a breath. I inhale her vanilla scent before I pull back. "Pixie. I've got to get to the clubhouse before work, then I have church with the brothers. I'll see you tonight."

She nods as I kiss her Momma's cheek, making her smile before I grab my cut, put it on, and kiss her forehead again.

"I love you, baby," I rasp against her forehead before leaving. I suck in a breath when I hear her whisper, "I love you too," but I keep walking, knowing she didn't want me to listen to it.

She fucking loves me too.

I spend the next few hours at work with Hawk, dealing with the police and my Uncle after finding his jailbait naked on his tattoo chair, fingering herself when Axel calls me.

I furrow my brows and answer it.

"Pres?"

He swears, "For fucks sake, Ink, you know I can't stand you calling me that."

I chuckle. "What's up?"

He sighs, "Dag refuses to leave Mel's side for church."

Shit!

"Alright, leave it with me; I'll deal with it."

"Thanks, brother," he says back before hanging up, and I call my blood brother.

He answers on the second ring,

"I'm not coming, Ink; I can't leave her alone for that long."

I smile and shake my head. "She won't be alone, brother; I'll have Sophie sit with her; we need to decide what to do with that nurse you fucked who shot her."

He sighs, "I thought she still hated you."

I just smile. "She's coming around."
