He hums and says, "Fine, get her here then," before hanging up, and I shake my head and pack my shit up before letting Hawk know the situation. He nods before I leave out the back, boycotting Phoebe.

I get back to Ashley's in record time when Sophie walks out the front door with a worried look, especially when I had told her I wouldn't see her until tonight. "Is everything OK?"
I just smile and nod before patting my seat and saying, "Come take a ride with me."
She furrows her brows and thankfully doesn't argue before climbing on behind me after I placed her helmet on her head. She holds me tight, making my muscles relax. I enjoyed, for just a moment, having her wrapped around me for the first time in months. Sighing, I rev my bike before pulling out of the driveway and heading towards the hospital. I know Sophie doesn't come here when she knows the brothers are around.
After Hawk stepped by me after my misunderstanding, or well, more like fuck up, she hasn't wanted anything to do with them, and I don't blameher. In her time of need, my brother stood by me instead of his friend. She doesn't trust us anymore, which fucking sucks because now all the brothers know about her and are fucked off that the old ladies are getting to know her first, including my father. Still, he can fuck off for all I care.
When we get to the hospital, she furrows her brows before rushing to Mel's hospital room in a panic without giving me a chance to explain, making me shake my head. She sighs when we get inside and see Mel's still the same, and Dagger smiles at her. He kisses Mel's lips, whispering before kissing my girl's head. He leaves the room while Soph narrows her eyes at me, and I put my hands up in surrender.
"Look, I know you're still pissed with me, Soph, but can you just sit with her until we get out of church? It's the only way Dag was willing to attend. We need to discuss what to do with Cassidy."
She nods and sighs. I never kept anything from her, so she knows the girl Dagger messed around with out of punishment to leave her hanging is the one who shot her friend, my sister-in-law. "Yes, go."
I smile and move over to her, kissing her forehead before I rasp, "Thank you, Pixie," then turn and leave, meeting Dagger in the hallway, who smiles at me, happy I'm making waves with her. We both get into church, and not even twenty minutes later, we've just finished discussing letting the cops arrest Cassidy as the best-case scenario for Mel, then having one of our inside girls take her out when Doc's pager goes off, and he stands up quickly before saying the words we've all longed to hear.
"She's awake."
All the chaos breaks out before we head to the hospital, rushing to Mel's room.
As soon as I walk in, Sophie comes straight to me as she explains Meghan's absence and into my arms, which automatically wraps around her, and I look down at her. Meghan is best friends with Mel and is a resident at The General. She's become close with my girl these past few months and has been struggling. The gun was pointed at her, but Mel wouldn't allow her to be taken for her little girl, so she attacked Cassidy and ended up being shot instead. She's been feeling guilty since.
I look down at Sophie to see she's already looking at me before she gets on her tiptoes and kisses my lips gently. My eyes widen as hope fills me before she rasps, "You can thank Mel for this. I told her if she woke, I'd give us another shot, and she did wake, so you owe her."
My whole body sags in relief as I bring her closer before I look at Mel, who smiles at us.
My eyes fill with tears as happiness fills the room while she lets us know she still has most of her memories except for the incident itself, when we thought she wouldn't have any at all, let alone wake up from a two-month fucking coma.
Thank fuck, everything's finally coming back into place.

Chapter 17
Sophie
I smile as I leave the hospital after spending twenty minutes convincing Jackson that I can walk to work so Melanie can spend some time with her family while I head for my night shift.
Finally, she's awake after two months of being in a coma.
I begged her to wake up, pleaded with her, and even said I'd give my relationship with Jackson a chance again, which I was slowly crumbling into giving him a chance anyway. He's been so attentive these past few months and made my love for him grow, especially when he cooked dinner for my Momma and treated her like the queen she actually is.
How can I walk away without trying at least one more time with him?
I look up at the now-darkening sky and grin.
As soon as I mentioned her dog, Bella, Mel's hand moved, and she finally woke. It's just a shame Meghan couldn't stay around longer. They're best friends, but she's struggling with survivor guilt right now, and I know without a doubt Mel will soon whip her into shape again. We'll get our bubbly Mel back again.
I shake my head. The first call I wanted to make was to Leah. I know she hasn't been to see our friend, no doubt because of the old ladies, mainly Cammy, but then I remembered I screwed that up because I didn't think rationally; my anger had taken over. Leah knows me more than I know myself. I needed to let Jackson see my anger, and she knew that, and instead of thanking her, I pushed her away.
I miss her.
It only takes me ten minutes to walk to work before going through the front door. Lucy sneers at me, but I just raise a brow at her, making her clear her throat, realizing I saw her look before she starts shuffling some papers. "There's a woman in your office waiting for you; she arrived five minutes ago and said it was important. I'll be leaving in five."
I nod and walk past her, wondering who wants to see me when I open the door and see a woman roughly 5 "6 with a short brown bob standing near the side wall, looking at my degrees. I clear my throat, making her turn towards me, her brown eyes narrowing, and I tilt my head. I can see some of Jackson's features in her, which would mean this is the bitchy mother who hurt Dagger.
