He sighs and smiles wide before approaching me and hugging me tightly before whispering, "Thank you."

I nod and hug him back.

About an hour later, I'm finally pulling into my parking space at my flat. We've hashed out all the details, and I must admit I'm happy with them, and I'm glad to help Todd out in some way. He seems different, in a good way, though.

Sighing, I quickly grab my phone to message Momma before heading into my flat for a shower and then a nap.

I'm so fricking tired.

Me- quit your job at the café, Momma. I've sorted out the mortgage. I love you to the moon and back xx.

Chapter 3

Ink – Two Months Prior

I lean back and stretch my arms above my head while moving my head from side to side, stretching my neck. I look at the clock and sigh; it's 10 p.m. I've been working on this back piece in my sketchbook for a client for over four hours, which shows the devil himself rising from the flames. I still have to transfer it to my pad before I offer Jester, one of Snake's brothers in the Devil's MC, with whom we're allies.

Hawk left a while ago, taking Daisy back home with a grin on his face, narrowly missing jailbait, who I had to kick out, and telling her if she returns, I'll call the sheriff.

My phone vibrates against my desk, and I pick it up and sigh when I see who's messaged me.

Mom – where are you? It's 10 p.m., Jacky!

I shake my head and ignore the message.

I'm 29 fucking years old, and she's still treating me like a child. I sigh before deciding fuck it and start transferring the piece over bit by bit, not wanting to go home right now. My mother is driving me insane, and I know Dad's out on club business, which is why she's messaging me.

Every time dads out, she'll show up at mine; she needs a fucking hobby.

It took me a few hours to finish, and my phone vibrated several times. I know it's my mother, and when I check to confirm it, I drop my chin to my chest.

Mom- is everything OK, baby boy? You never answered my message!

Mom- you should never ignore your mother's text, Jackson. Don't make

me come and find you.

Mom- 8 missed calls.

Mom- where are you? I've had to call your dad; I'm worried.

I shake my head when my phone rings again, and I see it's dad.

"I'm safe, I'm at work, I'm fine, and I'm also a fucking adult."

It's the first thing I say instead of hello.

Dad chuckles, "I figured. I'll let her know, son."

I sigh, "Dad, have a word will yah? She's getting too far now."

He hums, "I know; I think she's struggling with an empty nest. She misses having a full house. I'll speak to her, night, son."

I say night and hang up, not believing his words. Mom preferred quiet and cleanliness. Since Dag left for the Navy Seals, she's become unbearable and clingy, and I've had enough of it.

Sighing, I check the time again and see it's midnight. I hum; a drink at our bar sounds good right about now. It's still open for another three hours, and maybe, just maybe, I'd be able to find some new pussy because the sweet butts just aren't doing it for me anymore.

I quickly save my work before getting cleaned up. I lock the shop tightly before heading to my bike and driving two minutes before parking near the bar parking lot. Next door is our club, Untamed Girls, and I give Dave, the bouncer, a head nod before heading into our bar. I see Leah behind the bar, with Gunner watching her every move, making me shake my head. They're both into each other, but instead of doing something about it, Gunner turns to someone else, like he is right now, all because Razor, a club brother who we grew up with, had said some shit that most of us brothers don't believe is true but the old ladies do.
