“I’vetoldyoutobe careful when you get her for me!” a male growls as my head throbs and my body feels numb, unable to remember what happened.

Where am I?

Who is that?

Who is he talking to?

He can’t be talking to me, right?

Argh...

My head hurts. I shiver in the cold. My eyes are still closed and my eyelids too heavy to lift.

“Sorry, Captain. We already tried our best. We didn’t do much anyway, but we had to be careful so she wouldn’t keep struggling. We weren’t supposed to let anyone see us.” This is another male, his voice quivering.

Who is this captain? He must be the one who plotted to kidnap me. He has to be.

I hate him already. What have I done to wrong anyone?

“Captain, I think she moved.” This is yet another male. Something’s seriously wrong here!

“If this is your plan to divert my attention—! Wait... Get out of here.”

Yes, I know; I’m the one moving and fighting to open my eyes.

Did I get captured by those notorious human traffickers?

But in the middle of a beach in the summer season, with dozens of people around?

One would think there were easier targets, not that I wish that on anyone.

There is a hiss followed by a click of something that’s probably the door.

“Female, wake up. I know you’re awake.”

My head aches like hell because of this man, yet he blames me as if it is my fault that I’m not fully awake?

I have to fight to open my eyes. There is a weak spark of electricity flowing through me. There are tingles at my fingertips as if I have folded them for too long, only releasing them just now.

It must be the taser or something those men used to kidnap me.

My vision remains blurry for another moment before it focuses.

In front of me, there is a green man with pointy ears; his nose is even more pointy than most people I’ve ever met. His eyes are intense on me — an intensity that’s more beastly than human-like.

Who is this? He is green, half-naked with tattoos all over his body.

I groan. “What the fuck? You’re a bit too early for Halloween, dumbass.”

He growls and comes closer to the bed I’m sitting on.

He is huge, a lot larger than he looks from a distance away. He is probably eight feet tall, packed to the brim with muscles.

I swallow. I did hope to run into a handsome man during my holiday. But this isn’t what I meant.

Heat pools in me even though it’s stupid given the situation I’m in.
