“Yeah.” Now, I’m the one who doesn’t want to talk to her. She thinks that she gets to be rude and gets to do whatever she wants because she is my mate. How disrespectful.

We get out of the spaceship and take the lift to my apartment. When we are finally at my door, she is still a few steps behind me, busy looking at my collection along the corridor. This floor is mine alone, so there won’t be any other beings interrupting me.

I reach my palm to the keypad when she asks, “You have a lot of rocks here.”

“Yes. Do you like them?” I show my palm and the door opens. I get inside while she is still staring at my prized piece of ivriel. “It is ivriel.”

“Oh... What’s the use of it? The deep blue looks pretty good.”

“Well, it is hard, and a slightly cheaper alternative to diamonds when it comes to industrial usage. It doesn’t have a shine like the other stones that are commonly used for jewelry, though.” I go over to the display and point at it. “Look at this part, where there is the black.”

“Mmmhmm?”

“That’s where the magma of the planet infused into this ivriel. A rare occurrence. And if you look closely to the side, you can check out the special structure here. Most ivriel is striated, but this one is the other way around.”

She blinks and she shudders, taking a step back while holding her nose. “Ouch...”

I resist the urge to laugh. She is so cute.

She rubs her nose and rolls her eyes. “You better not be messing with me about the stone.”

“I’m not. You can check out more inside my place.”

My heart swells when she finally stops frowning at me. She has a faint smile and a spark in her eyes, maybe she is interested in minerals. That will be a great start. I still have stock to unload, but that can wait. Now, all I want to do is to stay with her and make her happy.

Chapter 11

Galene

Vikulbringsmealong, and we walk through rooms upon rooms with stones and rocks. It seems like this whole floor is his. He keeps introducing me to the gemstones and statues made from rare stones. They’re impressive and make it seem like I’m in a museum instead of an apartment.

He keeps talking and talking while I’m no longer paying attention to him. He is excited about everything he owns and he wants to share those with me. But I don’t really care about that.

All he cares about is what he wants. He doesn’t seem to care about me. I don’t understand the mate thing, but I doubt it means any good for me. Maybe all he wants is to keep me here in his home, just like how he keeps his collection here.

This is a large apartment. The tiles on the floor are black with silver sparkles, just like the ones on the ceiling. The walls are a very faint gray, almost white, making this place brighter despite the dim light. The lights in the display boxes are brighter. He is such a show-off.

There are couches and a dining table, but this place has so few items that it feels like he doesn’t even live here. Or maybe he is a bit too tidy with his stuff.

I halt right before I bump into him. He stops in the path for no reason again...

He is frowning at me. “Do you have any questions?”

I shake my head. “No, all is good.”

“Your face doesn’t say that. What’s up?”

“Nothing. I’m just looking around.”

He cups my face in his hands and nudges me to look at him. “I thought you liked the minerals and stones.”

“You like your collection.”

He grins, proudly. “Yes, I do.”

“I know.” I turn away from him. “I’m tired.”

“Why are you always tired? You just woke up before we landed.”
