“Well, he loves parties and everything fun. He is the organizer of this party, getting busy greeting everyone. And he is pretty famous for not following any rules but in a good and creative sense.”

“Ah...”

“His mate is also a human, like he mentioned, Ruby.”

A woman with wavy hair and a beautiful dress is coming to us, following Klouzo. Klouzo is walking with a bounce in his steps, which doesn’t match up perfectly with the suit he is in. He has a bit too much energy for such a formal suit.

She comes over and gives us a nod. “Nice you meet you, Vikul. Hope business is treating you well.”

Vikul shakes hand with her. “Thank you for organizing this event. This must be challenging.”

“It is worth it.” Ruby looks at me. “Hello, nice to meet you. I’m Ruby. I’m Klouzo’s... Klouzo... Where are you looking at?”

I turn to follow where Ruby looks, which is also where Klouzo is looking at. A server is walking by with a plate of roasted meat, which smells perfect.

Klouzo clears his throat. “I’m monitoring the quality of food provided for the guests. What did I miss?”

Ruby lets out a soft chuckle, giving Klouzo’s hand a squeeze. “Nothing much. This is my mate, Klouzo, if you don’t already know. He is focused on...”

Klouzo is watching another plate of cake going through the ballroom by now.

“... Well, making sure everything is working well. We organize events, so he is doing a great job at that. Hope you are having fun here.”

I nod. Klouzo doesn’t look that scary and Ruby looks nice. “I’m having fun. Will be sure to check out the food soon.”

Ruby nods to the long table with freshly made food added almost all the time. The evening is still young, a lot of beings are still waiting to get to their food. “It is a good chance to try out different food from different cultures for sure.” She nudges Klouzo. “Let us know if you need anything. We have a few more guests to greet. I look forward to chatting with you later.”

Klouzo nods his goodbye. He is still looking for the servers as they walk away.

Vikul lets out a soft sigh. “Well, now you’ve met the two of them. They were commissioned to host this party for Klouzo’s father’s company. You bet that male would be rolling his eyes if he saw Klouzo acting like this.”

“The father is an uptight business male?”

“Indeed. But Klouzo is so perfect in making everything fun, so organizing parties is perfect for him.”

I let out a breath. Klouzo has a way to make me feel a bit more comfortable. He makes the party feel less formal and less tense.

Vikul pulls me to his side, even closer than before. “Are you ready to dance?”

“Um... No...? Do you want to dance?”

If he really wants to, we can. Otherwise, I have no intention of joining the elegantly dancing beings. I’m not that way, and I can’t dance without stepping onto Vikul’s feet, which I doubt he will enjoy, either.

His eyes darken on me. “If you don’t want to dance, I think you owe me some entertainment.”

I wriggle my toes with a tinkle going down my spine. From that look, I know what he has in mind and that’s lighting a fire in me. “What entertainment?”

“We can get some air on the balcony and get a view of the city.”

And probably something else that he isn’t telling me at this moment.

“Just like that? Going for some sightseeing?”

He narrows his eyes on me. “Are you going with me?”

I lean closer to him. This is one of the moments when I hate how tall he is. He leans closer to me so I can whisper in his ear. “Are you getting hard? So hard that you have to hide that and can’t even stay here in the ballroom.”

His grip on my hand tightens, and he groans, softly. “If I wasn’t, you’d have tempted me. Go with me, please.”
