She chuckles when I silently groan. Maybe she can see that from my face. She sits by my side. “Grandma thinks that you are going to love the pie. I also think the same.”

Humans must be evil.

While the whole family is chatting next to the table with their pies and no one is around the couch, I ask, “So... This is what your family does on Thanksgiving. Eat a lot and then eat some more.”

She forks a mouthful of her pie, taking some cream with that forkful. She lifts it to my lips, so... I take the bite.

It’s a thick pie with a very strong taste of pumpkin. The pie itself is very smooth, not so sweet that it will be annoying to keep eating. It would be something I could keep eating if I weren’t already full.

She asks, “Do you like it?”

I nod. “I do, but I’m full.”

“This is what we do for Thanksgiving. You keep eating until you go into a food coma.”

I frown even deeper. I know about coma, but a food coma? Maybe that’s a human thing. “What does that mean? Comas aren’t pleasant.”

“Oh, that means you’ve eaten so much that you can fall asleep without a care in the world.”

Ah, that sounds a lot better than an actual coma.

I ask, “But you were working in the restaurant. Do you not like the dinner and everything?”

She sucks in an abrupt breath, forking up another bite of the pie. “I know you are going to love this. Try it. Grandma will be happy if you finish all the food.”

I don’t doubt that. I would hate to upset her, but...

She forks a bit of my pie, feeding it to me. She also feeds warmth to my stomach. Her smile looks so real as if she is enjoying our time together and she means it.

I... Maybe it’s just this holiday thing doing weird stuff to me. She’s a human and a stranger. I shouldn’t want her like this.

Chapter 6

Silvia

Istandinmyroom and stare at my bed. Yuhan is standing right next to me. Maybe... I probably played up how he could stay in my place for the night.

He clears his throat. “So... You don’t have a guest room.”

“Well, in theory, there’s one.”

“So...”

I turn around to him and make sure the door is closed. “But they think we’re dating, so...”

He frowns at the bed. It isn’t a huge bed, but if we don’t roll around a lot, we can fit on the bed together.

I sigh. “Sorry about that. But I think it will make more sense to everyone else that you’re staying in my room.”

“Then I will have no choice but to hold you by my side.”

I snap my head up, staring at him with wide eyes.

He watches me, and his gaze sets me on fire. “The bed is too small for both of us to sleep away from each other.”

“I’m aware of that.”

He clears his throat and looks away, but his tail waggles and it seems like he is having some other thoughts, which he isn’t telling. “Okay, let’s get some sleep.”
