I suppose it has to be how close I’m standing to Silvia and how the tension between us seems a bit too strong for the security guard. I take a step back.
Silvia shakes her head. “Everything’s fine. We know each other. Thanks for caring.”
The nekrozzro glances at me and shows off his horns as if he is going to fight me and he thinks he will win. “Good. If you need help, just let me know. Scream.”
I roll my eyes. “Do I look like a bad guy?”
“Sir, it isn’t like trouble will announce itself all the time. You do look capable of crushing her.” The nekrozzro says with a low and cold voice.
Silvia says, “I really am fine. Don’t worry. He isn’t a bad guy. We’re just... having a debate.”
The nekrozzro nods and walks away. I sneer at his back. He must think that he is amazing or something with his ugly yellow scales and weird-looking horns that will one day get stuck somewhere.
I turn to Silvia once again. “I mean it. I know we started out a lot different from others and everything happened quickly, but when I saw you in the restaurant, I knew that you were special. Now, I’m certain about that. Will you be my mate? No pretending anymore, just you and I, together.”
She watches me with wide eyes again. Does she not like me at all? Has everything been a pretense for her?
Maybe how she treated me could be a pretense for her family to see, but when we were alone? On the bed? When she had her ass in the air?
Was that still fake?
My tail tickles.
Maybe everything she did and said was fake, but the feeling in my tail and in my heart couldn’t be wrong. I know it.
“Silvia, I’m not sure what your plan is with life, but we can work that out.”
She looks away again. “But I’m just a very average, if not worse than average, woman. I couldn’t even do a basic job and I don’t earn money like you can. I don’t even have my own place, and—“
I growl. Those are stupid concerns that I don’t care about. “I want you as my mate, not as my employee, and not for money. All I care about is you. Will you be my mate, and we can figure out everything else?”

Silvia
Ialmostcouldn’tbelievemy ears.
Does he want me as his mate?
Really?
I stare at him as he towers over me with his height. He is a handsome nogzul with a status I could never imagine before meeting him. And he said he doesn’t care that I have next to nothing?
Beings walk past us, getting ready to board the next train. Yuhan said he had to leave and be back on his planet for his job. Is this... real?
I ask, “What’s the catch?”
He scowls at me. “What do you mean?”
“Is this another deal? Do you need a mate for something?”
He takes a deep breath with his hot gaze on me. “Yes, I need a mate. I need a mate for me and that’s you. I don’t just need a mate, I need you.”
He leans even closer, and he holds me in his arms. I gasp, taking in his woody scent, which melts me from the inside. “Me? What do you mean?”
He... wants me? Specifically me, instead of just a mate for some occasions?
“Silvia, do you really think I had no choice but to live under a bridge? Just because the hotel messed up my room?”
