Um... No? I’m not that bright with the way rich beings live, but Yuhan could definitely solve his own problem without my interruption. I was silly to offer that. I knew it, but I couldn’t stop myself from asking him.

He lifts my chin and makes me look him in the eyes. “When I saw you, I knew there was something special about you, even though I didn’t understand it then, but... I know it now. Silvia, don’t you feel it? Be my mate.”

I... He holds me even tighter in his arms, almost squeezing me until I’m flat. I barely have the strength to utter the words. “But... I’m a human, and you...”

He sighs. “Really? You don’t like that I’m a nogzul? I thought we got along well, even though we hadn’t known each other for a long time. It doesn’t matter to me. I thought you realized our bond, and that was the reason you offered for me to stay with you.”

I... My mouth opens and closes. I didn’t plan that much, and I had no idea about the bond either, but seeing how things went and how we’re here now, in the station with many beings are around, we may not have a lot of time left with each other if I do nothing about this.

He strokes my back, staying quiet, but his patience is probably getting thin. “I really don’t care what species you are. All I care about is the bond between us.”

“I... I’m too stupid to even hold down a job as a waitress. I can’t do you any good. And my family—“

He pecks a kiss on my lips, taking my sentence away from me. “You are good. You are amazing. Stop talking about yourself like that and you don’t get to talk to my mate like that.”

I look to the side, away from him. “Are you sure about that?”

“I don’t understand why you’re still in doubt. You will stay with me and we’ll stay together. Or do you not want to move planets to be with me?” There is a glint of sadness in his eyes, which he seems to try to hide.

“Yuhan...” I pat his back. His tail is standing straight up. What does a stiff tail mean? “I’m scared of what’s to come. I... Don’t really know you, and—“

“What do you want to know about me? I thought we knew each other pretty well by now.” He smirks and winks at me.

I suck a breath. He’s such a naughty nogzul. I know what he’s trying to get at. “But that’s different. All I know is you do trade deals and you travel planets for meetings. Also, that you or your company isn’t that good at booking hotels.”

Another train hauls its way into the station. Beings fill the platform again. He and I remain standing at the wall. Many beings of different species walk past us. I can only hope no one is looking at us.

Yuhan strokes my cheek, and his furry finger tickles my skin. “That’s pretty much all there is about me. Nothing special. I earn enough to support myself and will have enough for you, too. Actually…” He clears his throat. “I can give you more than you can imagine. If your family feels like it, I can also move them. Then everyone will be together.”

I doubt that’s what they want. But... “Yuhan, this feels unreal.”

He hisses. “You don’t trust me?”

I rest my hand on his chest. “It’s not about that. But... I have never imagined we would... find each other like that. And... I know you said I shouldn’t talk about myself like that, but... I never imagined that someone would want me as their mate.”

He growls and I shiver. A few beings walking by glance at us. Maybe the nekrozzro guard will be coming back soon.

Yuhan says, “Ha, someone not want you? I think you should stop eating roasted birds. It may help.”

I roll my eyes. “Stop making fun of turkeys; you know that’s irrelevant.” I hug him again, resting my ear on his chest and letting his heartbeat hammer through me. “If I agree, I’m flying with you and leaving this planet. Poof. Just like that.”

He strokes me with his huge hands. “I’d prefer that, but I understand it isn’t that easy to leave just like that. So, I’d understand if you need time.”

I take a deep breath. “And I’d look for a job on your planet and in the city you live in.”

He frowns. “Probably. I’m not sure, and I think you have time to figure that out. Or...” He stops mid-way, seemingly thinking about something else.

I wait for him, not wanting to interrupt his thoughts. It takes him a moment, long enough for beings to get off the train and for another group to board.

He eventually says, “We can figure that out later. Where we are going to live and what job to get are things to worry about later. The most important thing for now is — Will you be my mate, Silvia?”

Was I overthinking everything? Maybe it isn’t as complicated as it feels like in my head. “Yes, I’ll be your mate.”

He pins me against the wall and presses his lips on mine. His lips are burning hot and they send a fire that spreads through my body. I can feel beings glancing at us and probably silently sighing and cursing us for kissing in public. But I no longer care. I need the kiss and I need Yuhan.

The spark in me grows the longer we keep the kiss going. My heart may as well be burning.

But, at the same time, my heart is joining with Yuhan’s. His tail wraps around my ankle as if he wants to hug me even harder and longer.
