Cash tilted his head. “You’re not really jealous, are you?”

Either the question or Nick’s unspoken answer made him uncomfortable, not full-on twitchy but close. Nick met Cash’s gaze and held it for a long time. “Only with you,” he finally said. “I’ve never cared about anyone else enough to bother with such a primitive emotion. I’m not really sure I like it.” He sighed. “And I’m sorry if my Neanderthal routine embarrassed you today. This is my problem to deal with, and I will add it to the list. If it’s all the same to you, I’d rather put most of my attention on firing Ole Sparky back to life first.”

Cash rested his head on Nick’s good shoulder and rested his palm on his tight stomach. “I need to make a confession.”

“Need an attorney or priest first?” Nick teased.

Cash pinched the skin just above Nick’s waistband. His stomach muscles tensed, reminding Cash that Nick was ticklish there. It probably wasn’t a good time to make him flinch or shake. He eased his hand down lower and just kept going until the tips of his fingers dipped beneath his waistband. Cash’s fingertips didn’t encounter underwear, only smooth skin. “I thought it was really fucking hot.”

“Huh?” Nick asked breathlessly.

“The caveman routine,” Cash said as he trailed his fingers across Nick’s pelvis from left to right.

Nick groaned long and low. “Don’t stop.”

Cash leaned in and kissed his neck. “Never.”

“I want to feel you inside me,” Nick said. “I want to watch you take pleasure from my body again.”

Cash’s fingers stilled, and he forgot to breathe for a few seconds. The visual sent a spike of lust straight to his dick until he thought of how painful that could be for Nick. Penetration was often uncomfortable even when you were aroused out of your mind. He wouldn’t use Nick that way. He would wait until Nick had healed. “And you will, Nicky.”

“Now?” Nick’s whimper nearly made Cash take back his unspoken promise.

“I won’t hurt you like that,” Cash said. “There are many ways to be intimate that won’t cause discomfort or make you feel used.”

“I’m begging you to use me,” Nick whined.

“Not like that, baby. Please don’t ask that of me. I crave so much more from you than sexual release.”

Nick turned his head, and Cash had to pull back to see his expression. Nick’s dark blue eyes sparkled like sapphires. “I figured out your love language.”

Cash smiled. “Did you now?”

Nick nodded, looking smug as hell. “I bought a book on the subject from Hope’s store.”

“What else did you buy?”

“I see you trying to change the subject,” Nick said. “I’ll do the showing my way.” He covered Cash’s hand and pushed it down lower to rest on Nick’s cock. “Touch is definitely my love language, and yours is quality time.”

Cash struggled to define the pleasure coursing through his veins. It wasn’t arousal, though that was present too. This euphoria had more to do with being seen and understood.

Nick took in a shaky breath. “No fucking wonder we couldn’t get this right. I’ve been too busy or far away to give you the quality time you need, and I didn’t have your hands on my body.”

Cash grazed his fingertips over Nick’s cock and cupped his balls. “We’re already making up for lost time.”

Nick closed his eyes, bucked against Cash’s palm, and fucking purred. After a few moments, he met Cash’s gaze again. “I bought a variety of lubes and a men’s supplement that’s supposed to promote healing and improve all aspects of my life. All-natural stuff.”

Cash’s hand stilled but remained on Nick’s crotch. “You had enough time to shop for books, sex aids, and male supplements while organizing Tyler’s rescue?”

“I introduced myself to Hope and explained Tyler’s situation to him. She was the one who rallied the shop owners while her husband watched the store. I bought one book, several lubes, and a single bottle of supplements from him. Gotta give him credit. He didn’t blush once.”

“If Gary were the blushing type, he’d be perpetually red,” Cash replied.

They lay intimately entwined on the bed, touching and talking until a horrendous odor made them gag.

“Told you she was just getting started,” Cash said as he launched off the bed to turn on the ceiling fan. He narrowed his eyes and studied the sleeping dog. Cash was prepared to toss her out on her fluffy ass, but Nick had other ideas.

“Don’t you even think about it.”
