Cash didn’t give Nick enough time to slick his dick with more lube once he eased his digits free. “Now,” Cash said as he reached between his legs to grip Nick’s erection. Then he eased back, lined up, and took Nick down to the root in one thrust. They shouted together as their bodies merged. Cash just sat there, letting his body adjust to the penetration while Nick cursed and held him with a bruising grip.

“Don’t move,” Nick snarled. “Not a single inch. You’re so fucking tight, and I’ll blow.”

Cash was barely hanging on himself, so he should’ve listened to Nick’s command. But he didn’t. Cash used his thigh muscles to lift up an inch or two.

“Fuck!” Nick roared as his fingers dug deeper into Cash’s flesh. Instead of holding him still, Nick bounced him up and down on his dick.

Their skin slapped together loudly as they chased their orgasms. Nick’s body tensed under Cash’s as he slammed him down one last time and held Cash flush against his pelvis. Nick gasped, held his breath, and bathed Cash’s channel with his hot release. Then he pulled Cash back to lie against his chest and reached around to jerk Cash off. The explosion was immediate, splattering against his chest and abdomen. They remained in that position for a few minutes while they wound down.

“I love you.” Sleep and sex roughened Nick’s voice, turning Cash inside out.

“I love you too.”

Separating their bodies turned into a hilarious scene since their limbs were still limp noodles. They stumbled to the shower and clung to one another beneath the spray. They looked more like shipwreck survivors than lovers, but they seemed content to just hold one another. Eventually, they untangled their bodies, but the touching didn’t stop. Cash shampooed Nick’s hair since his shoulder ached. Nick thoroughly washed Cash’s body, paying extra attention to his favorite nooks and crannies. Once they toweled off and dressed in lounge pants, they resettled on the couch and enjoyed breakfast.

Halfway into his everything bagel piled high with cream cheese, Nick released a moan that made Cash a little jealous. “Even better than twelve years ago.”

Cash washed down his bite of cinnamon raisin with a sip of hot apple cider. “Are you talking about us or the bagels?”

“Both. Either everything has gotten better with age, or I just haven’t lived these past twelve years.”

“I think both can be true there too.” Cash sure as hell hadn’t experienced life to the fullest, at least not in the romance department. He hadn’t lived like a monk by any standards, but his sexual encounters were few and far between. Nick had never mentioned his conquests, and Cash didn’t either. He wasn’t about to ask questions now. “Especially the not living part,” Cash said. How could it be otherwise if they weren’t together?

Nick kissed his temple. “Me too, Saint.” Then he continued to mow through his bagel. “What’s on tap for today?”

“I didn’t plan that far ahead,” Cash admitted. “I thought we’d play it by ear.”

Nick tilted his head to the side. “You still keep a sleek crossover SUV here for city driving?”

“I do.”

“How do you feel about going to my place with me so I can pack up the things I’d like to have at the ranch with me? I’ll sell or donate the rest so I can put the condo on the market.” When Cash only stared at him, Nick laughed nervously. “Too soon?”

Cash shook his head. “God no. I’m struggling to believe this is real. You and me.”

“Us,” Nick said.

Cash swallowed hard. “We’re in love.”

“Very much so.”

“And moving in together,” Cash said.

“We are…if you’re—”

Cash launched off the couch before he finished. “I just need to grab the keys.”

Laughing, Nick reached for his hand before Cash could walk away. “And shirts and shoes. We don’t need to go off half-cocked and mostly nude.” Nick raked his gaze over Cash’s body and lingered at his crotch. “And maybe underwear. Those pants drape over your cock and balls so nicely.”

Cash looked down at himself, then at Nick’s crotch. “Perhaps we take a few minutes to put on real clothes before we pack up your condo.”

Nick tugged him back down. “Or,” he said, “we do that tomorrow before heading back to Redemption Ridge.”

Cash eased back into Nick’s embrace. “I like the way you think. What would you like to do today?”

After discussing their options, they decided to see a movie followed by a trip to the store so they could cook dinner together. They settled on a simple pasta dish, salads, and French rolls. Cash and Nick moved so well together in the kitchen that it felt like they’d been doing it for a long time. Cash’s mind started to wade into the weeds again, trying to figure out the why and how of things that didn’t matter. Nick’s kiss would always pull him back. They took another long soak in the tub on Saturday night. Their laughter and conversation echoed through the apartment, turning the space into a home for the first time since Cash had bought it.

“I think I’ll keep the apartment for the times we want to get away,” Cash told Nick the following morning when they headed to his condo.
