To my surprise, Jenna follows me inside, her heels clicking behind me. When I turn around, her red lips are pulled into a pout, arms folded beneath her surgically enhanced bust. “Evan, why are you doing this?”

Here we fucking go.

Huffing out an irritated breath, I run a hand through my hair. “I already told you I’m busy,” I snap, wanting her to get the hell out of my office before Lexi gets here.

Jenna changes tactics, an extra swing in her hips as she saunters closer. “Come on, Evan. It’s been a long time since we’ve fucked.” Her hand trails up my chest, and she steps into me, pressing her body against mine. “Why—”

“You know, you have some fucking—” Lexi’s voice trails off as she bursts through the open door of my office. She stops, her eyes as round as saucers as she looks from me to Jenna.

I push Jenna away, but not before seeing the hurt all over Lexi’s face.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt.” Lexi spins around, attempting to run off, but I’m too fast.

Stepping around Jenna, I grab Lexi’s wrist, tugging her closer to me. “You didn’t interrupt anything.” My eyes are glued to Lexi, who refuses to look at me, her gaze on her shoes while she bites her lip. I raise my voice, my tone cold and dismissive. “Jenna was just leaving, weren’t you?”

Jenna struts over to where Lexi and I are standing. Green eyes flash with anger as she looks from me to Lexi, her eyes narrowing as a look of disgust contorts her face. “For now.” The threat is in her voice. As much as I’d like to tell Jenna to fuck off, the urge to be around Lexi prevails over everything else. I know if I let go of Lexi, she’ll run off.

Lexi blanches when Jenna’s icy tone says, “This isn’t over, Evan.” Her heels click as she stomps out the door.

“It’s not what you think.”

“I don’t think anything,” Lexi snaps, the hurt in her eyes gone, replaced by fury as her mocha eyes lock with mine. “I didn’t mean to interrupt you and your girlfriend.”

Still gripping Lexi’s wrist, I chuckle as I head to my office door, slamming and locking it behind me. Spinning around to face her, I pull her against my chest. “You’re jealous.”

“Of you and Malibu Barbie? Please.” She’s trying to be nonchalant, but I see the emotion simmering in her mocha eyes. Her palms flattened against my chest, pushing against my chest. “Let me go.”

“Never.” My pulse and heart rate pound from the desire coursing inside me.

Her lips part, and I nearly groan out loud. When her pink tongue swipes over her bottom lip, my self-control disintegrates.

“Why did you lock the door?” Her voice is slightly breathless as she blinks up at me. “Evan, what are you—”

That’s all she gets out before my lips crash against hers. My arms wrap around her, pulling her tightly against me. Her backpack crashes to my office floor with a thud. She’s stunned, frozen and unresponsive. But as I devour her lips, she responds to my kiss, wrapping her arms around me.

A low growl rumbles from my chest. I don’t kiss women on the mouth. Ever. It’s too personal and gives them false expectations of what I want.

But Lexi is different. I’ve been intrigued by her mouth ever since I kissed her while she was asleep, wondering what it would be like to have her respond to me.

Now I know.

Fucking decadent as sin. The sweetest dessert I’ve ever tasted.

For the first time in my life, nervousness flows through me as I change the angle of my lips, unsure of what I’m doing. It’s unfamiliar territory for me as I experiment with Lexi’s lips, wondering if she’s been kissed before and how often, yet I’m too lost in the sensation of her lips against mine to ask.

Lexi whimpers against my mouth, the sweetest symphony to my ears. She tastes like sunshine and sass mixed with a hint of the mint she must’ve put in her mouth on the way here.

I breathe her in as I move my lips against hers, the scent of honeysuckle making my head spin. Her lips are so fucking soft against mine. Desperation and need fill me as I deepen the kiss, hungry for something I’d never desired before, but now that I’ve discovered it, I’ll never get enough.

Lexi surrenders, eagerly responding to my kiss. Her hands tangle in the hair at the nape of my neck, kissing me back with such passion she steals the breath from my lungs.

One kiss rocks my entire world.

Everything wrong with it is suddenly right. Every cold, bitter moment fades away, replaced by her warmth.

Every ounce of loneliness I’ve kept trapped inside fades away.

All because ofher.
