Elara looked dangerously alluring in her tight black dress, the fabric clinging to every curve. Traces of my crimson markings peeked above the low neckline, proof she was mine. It was difficult to keep my eyes ahead on our course when such beauty awaited beside me.

Her eyes shone with wonder, taking in the spectacle. The Nebula perched at the very top of the metro, a world she had never seen before tonight.

“Quite the sight, isn’t it?” I remarked.

“It’s marvelous up here,” she breathed. “I knew the Uune built all this, but they saved their best work for the highest levels.”

I smiled indulgently. “Just wait until you see inside the restaurant itself. It’s a singular experience.”

Our hovercar slowed as we approached a charging bay near the entrance, the warm glow of The Nebula beckoning in the distance.

As I moved to climb out, Elara paused, staring down at her outstretched hands, watching my fading red markings pulse softly in the dim light. I reached across and grasped her delicate fingers in my large hand, giving a gentle, reassuring squeeze.

“How are you holding up, my love?” I asked gently.

“I’m still getting used to all of this,” she admitted, her luminous eyes meeting mine. “Part of me feels...inhuman now.”

My thumb stroked the back of her hand. “You’ll never be the same, it’s true. But don’t forget who you are inside. That’s the Elara I fell for, after all.”

At that, her lips curved into a radiant smile. She leaned in and pressed her mouth to mine, her clever tongue seeking entrance. I opened gladly, letting her take her fill of me.

When we finally parted for air, Elara sat back with a look of pure adoration.

“I do love the way you look at me now,” I chuckled. “I never expected a human could bring me such happiness.”

She giggled, leaning close to purr in my ear. “I have a few more surprises in store to show you just how happy I can make you tonight.”

Her sultry promise sent a visible shiver through me, heat coiling low. “I look forward to every one,” I rasped.

With a flirtatious wink, Elara turned to study the restaurant ahead. “So that’s the famous Nebula. It looks fancier than any place I’ve ever been.”

I grinned, shifting in my suddenly too-tight pants. “You have no idea. Shall we?”

I stepped out and came around to her side of the car, gallantly opening the door and offering my hand. Elara took it gracefully, giving me a coy smile. I led her inside the lavish foyer, keeping a proprietary hand on the small of her back.

The lobby was all sleek black stone and muted light. The lively sounds of the dining room carried through the wide entryway. At the hostess stand, a smartly dressed woman glanced up from her screen with a polite smile as we approached.

“Good evening, welcome to The Nebula. Do you have a reservation?”

“Yes, under Vinduthi for this evening,” I informed her.

The hostess nodded crisply. “Wonderful. The rest of your party has already arrived. If you’ll follow me, please.”

She emerged from behind the stand. I stayed close to Elara as we followed the hostess deeper inside. I watched her closely, waiting for her reaction when she got her first look at the main attraction.

“Oh wow...” Elara breathed as we entered the cavernous dining room.

At the far end, a constantly shifting kaleidoscope of light rippled behind the glass wall, morphing fluidly from one vivid color to the next.

“That would explain the name,” she chuckled in delight.

As we passed through the busy restaurant, conversations lulled briefly as diners turned to look our way before continuing their meals. Word of my audacious relationship with a human had surely spread, though old prejudices died hard.

I leaned down to murmur slyly in Elara’s ear as she took in the opulent surroundings. “They appreciate the view. Though, not as much as I do.”

I punctuated the statement with a possessive caress of her backside. She jumped, slapping at my roaming hand in embarrassment even as she struggled not to laugh.

“Draven!” she hissed under her breath.
