We both watched as Dan guided Elspeth towards a small group of his friends and I marvelled at just how easily she’d settled into a world that wasn’t hers. In the space of fifteen minutes, I learned one of the most valuable lessons in life: never presume you know someone through and through. And rejoice in that.
