“I’ve just taken you there.”

‘What we do together feels more like hell. Hot. Unquenchable. I’m certain there is always something trying to eat you up.” She giggles.

I love it when she laughs.

She unhooks her legs from the arms of the chair and places her feet flat on the floor, forcing her to lean toward me.

“Thank you.” She kisses my lips. “I needed that.”

“I know. Now put your clothes back on and work. We have a dinner date down the stairs in an hour.”

“Done. I’ll be able to concentrate much better now.”

“Thought it would help.” I rise to my full height. “And you can help me with my concentration later on.” I point at my full-mast erection through my trousers.

“I can do that now.” She licks her plump lips.

“Nope. Work.” I rub my pounding cock. Christ, that is painful. “Fun later. I’m off to walk Pom-pom and then order dinner.”

“You know, if you keep doing nice things for me, I might just ask you to marry me and you could be my personal assistant in every way.” She half laughs, and then her eyes go wide and her cheeks blush pink as she realizes what she said.

Our eyes bore through each other.

In a fully vulnerable moment, completely naked, Violet pulls herself up from her chair and walks over to me. She looks up at me with her big dark doe eyes. “You know I’m kidding, don’t you?”

Was she?

“And honestly, Lincoln, I don’t know why I met you, but there is a reason. I’m not stupid and I am fully aware you can’t make me any promises past a few weeks. But promise me this, please. Tell me if you want out because although I asked you to take a leap of faith with me, I know that it’s also okay to take a step back too when it all becomes too much. To protect this.” She lays her delicate hand against my chest.

Fuck. My heart beats more rapidly because I want to jump into the abyss with her, but the only words that leave my mouth are, “Okay. It’s only been a few days. We’ll take a day at a time.”

Okay? We’ll take a day at a time?

I’m an idiot.

“Okay.” She pats my chest twice. Her bountiful ass jiggles as she rushes back to her desk.

Later, Linc, Later. If she’ll let me.

It’s only been a few days?

I flee from the room and roll my eyes at my stupidity.

“Remember to put a top on. Those abs are for my eyes only, Lincoln Black.”

I stop at the bottom of the stairs so I can hear what she’s saying as she talks to herself.

“Oh, nice one, Violet. What an absolute ass I am. Oh, I might just ask you to marry me.” She puts on a warbled, low voice. “Idiot. It’s been three days, you silly woman. What an utterly stupid thing to say. It just slipped out. New rule, think before you speak. Way to lose all your coolness. Christ, who am I kidding? I was never cool. Right, emails.” I hear her pulling her chair back to her desk. “And who the hell wants to be called Violet Black? That’s a stupid goddamn name if ever I heard it. Violet West-Black. Violet Black-West.” She groans. So she’s thought about her name. “That name will never work. I will sound like a color swatch. Why did my parents not call me something like Jane or Monica, but oh no, we called you Violet because violets were your grandmother's favorite?” She mimics a high-pitched posh voice. “Could she not have picked a flower called Susan?”

I have a little chuckle at the bottom of the stairs.

She’s funny.

I’m in so much trouble.

“Wow, that was delicious. I am ordering from them again.” Violet licks the remnants of her chili prawn kebabs off her fingertips. Turns out she likes them extra hot.
