“You feel okay?” I ask.

“I hate driving.” She does a cute wiggle and her hair falls to the side like she’s begging for my bite.

Patience, Hunter.

Ignoring the luscious vanilla sugar hijacking my nervous system, I squeeze her hands. “Well the speed limit’s thirty and we only have to cross the compound, so I think you can get us there. You know which one is the gas?”

Lilah sighs. “I know. It’s just… You’ll see. Buckle?”

I click the seatbelt around us. It barely stretches to fit, pushing Lilah deep between my thighs. She’s already so focused on the road, she must not notice my hard-ass dick saying hello. “Put us in drive?”

Lilah pushes out a breath, hits the brake, and shifts…

Then I’m coughing, trying not to laugh into her hair.

She leans over the wheel like a grandma with cataracts, squinting at the road, and at no point do we exceed a speed of nine. A confused squad of trainees jogs past, and Lilah brakes, even though they’re fully on the sidewalk.

“It’s okay to go a little faster.” I rub her arms, trying to encourage but also not laugh at this adorable shitshow. “I can stop us if we get in trouble.”

“Going fast enough.” She leans until her chin damn-near touches the wheel. Eventually, we coast to a natural stop at the intersection where we need to turn.

“Take a left.” I flick the signal for her.

She checks left and right four times each before zooming off at five miles-per-hour. Can’t make eye contact with Orion or I’ll lose my shit.

I need this on film.

The guys will die.

“Killer. You’re the safest driver I’ve ever seen.”

“Shut up,” Lilah mutters, never taking her eyes off the empty road.

I kiss the crown of her head, and she’s so distracted, she doesn’t shrink away. “I’ll take you out to practice. Somewhere quiet and safe.”

“You don’t have to—”

“You know how it is.” I kiss behind her ear. “I’m going to.”

Lilah shivers.

I grin.

Have to show Lilah exactly what I’m willing to do for her.

Can’t wait for tonight.

THIRTY-TWO

LILAH

As much as I hate driving, it distracts me from reality. Or maybe the real distraction is Hunter’s hot breath puffing against my neck, muzzing my head with honey.

Can’t stop shivering.

“Here we are.” Hunter rubs my shoulders. “Park at the back. We don’t want to be too close to other cars.”

The combat stadium sits smack central in the Wyvern compound, behind layers and layers of security that actually make me feel secure.
