My alphas.

To know I’ll be taken care of the way they’ve been proving they can.

I want to throw up.

But then…

Unless I really am going crazy, I hear someone actually throwing up. The wracking, choking noise echoes through the pipes, and before I can even think, I’m rushing down the hall in my robe.

When Orion and I were getting dressed earlier, I realized all the guys have claimed bedrooms. Only the rooms aren’t filled with their stuff. They’re filled with the stuff they keep buying for me.

This bed’s piled with tangerine lingerie that screams Finn fucking Wyvern, and my gut clenches as I hurry to the bathroom.

But instead of a red-headed mess, I find Jett on his knees.

Dark hair falling to his shoulders, shirt off, baring pale, toned, and drunk-sweaty skin.

Reeking like moonshine, he groans.

“Jett?”

His voice is a razor rasp that slices straight into my heart. “Lilac.”

My heart stops.

So does time.

Cheek pressed to the toilet seat, he shoots me the goofiest grin. “Finally killed her.”

“Are you…okay?” Because I’m fucking not. Which of them left him on his own, so drunk off his ass he’s smiling?

Jett never smiles.

JJ smiles.

JJ calls me Lilac in that sweet, little boy tone that doesn’t match the merc on his knees who’s made of shadows and hate.

“I…” Jett crawls away from the toilet. “Can you still look at me?”

“I’m looking at you now.” The fall of his long hair and the cut back muscles that twist and bunch as he stumble-crawls.

“Disgusted?”

“No.” That’s not even close to what I’m feeling. A better word would be ache. Maybe nostalgia. Definitely some inappropriate thirst. “But you’re crawling on the bathroom floor and super drunk, so you should probably take a shower.”

Need to grab him some water and painkillers. “I’ll go—”

Jett grabs my ankle.

His grip’s a shackle, but softer.

Rabbit fur handcuffs.

“Don’t leave.”

I crouch to peel his fingers off my foot. He switches to gripping my hand, staring up at me with those midnight-pool eyes that aren’t focusing after however much he drank to be this out of his mind.

“How come I have to stay?” I whisper, hiding the tremor in my voice. “You’re the one who always leaves.”
