An instant stop-motion that couldn’t have gone faster if I’d alpha-commanded them.

Maybe this is what it’s like to be a real omega.

The crowd parts, giving me a clear view of Wyvern Pack, and the guys drink me in just as hard as the guards.

This is power.

I stare Atlas down. “What are you doing here?”

“We came for you.” Atlas pushes through the guards, voice raspy, rough, and desperate. “You’re ours, Lilah. We want to take you home.“

My stomach clenches and not in the fluttery first date kind of way. More like a rock dropped in a lava pit. “Your omega’s home alone and probably tearing out his hair. That’s where you should be. Not here.”

“You’re ours,” Finn growls. “Mine.”

His growling purr rattles my backbone, and a ticklish thread of warmth starts to melt my stubbornness.

But grab the freeze cannon, because I’m not going soft over one little purr. “I’m not even mine. Go take care of Orion. Then you can book an appointment to see me like the other alphas.”

“You don’t need other alphas,” Atlas growls. “Let us take care of you.”

“You can’t even take care of yourselves!” I wave at them, fighting their own men, making a fucking scene now after leaving me alone for days.

My gaze slips to Hunter.

He rubs the back of his head, opens and closes his mouth. Whatever he wants to say, I’m not waiting for him to find his voice.

I whirl around, ready to stomp inside the building but an ice-choked whisper stops my steps. “Lila—”

Jett.

I can hear my heart cracking.

But I’ll staple that shit right back together.

They don’t ever have to know that I’m this weak.

How hard the mate ties want to tie and strangle me. If Jett was about to say what I think he was?

I shudder. “Don’t call me that name.”

Jett makes a choking noise, and I kind of wish he’d choke instead of coming at me with all that broken heart energy when he’s the one who could’ve saved me a lifetime ago.

“We had a mission,” Atlas insists. “We had to—”

“You didn’t have to. You chose to. Shocking concept, but you chose to leave me and you chose to leave Orion.” I push a breath through my teeth. I’m not listening to their words, their pity-me eyes, or their crazy fucking pheromones.

I’m listening to their actions.

All that other shit lies.

Actions don’t.

“Lilah—” Hunter starts.

Too freaking late.

“Learn to take care of the omega you already have.”
