“Alright, Matthew, can you organize a car for Miss Morgan? Sam, you are to stay here and prepare for an interview. With Miss Morgan’s permission, is it alright if we go ahead as planned?”

“Honestly, I’d rather not be mentioned. I will have to deal with all the backlash when I get back home. So, if we can keep my name down to a minimum the better.”

She was pissed and I knew once this day ended, I’d try and talk to her about all of this, what was a good idea and what wasn’t. I hated how my celebrity status would ruin my relationships, friendships or otherwise. Granted, most of that had been my fault, but I wanted to have Kim in my life, I didn’t want to lose her again.

“I will try my best to steer the interview away from you Kim.” I stood and tried to move towards her, but she in turn stepped backwards.

“How long until the car?” She asked, almost looking through me.

“A few minutes. It will pick you up from the staff entrance, to avoid the media that is out by the entrance.” Katelyn spoke before she went back to her phone call.

Grabbing her things, Kim headed out the door without even uttering a goodbye. I went to rush after her, and Paula grabbed my wrist shaking her head.

“Leave her be. I warned you, Sam.”

“I can’t just let her run off without at least talking to her.”

“You must, for now. You can call her later, but for now, we need to get you prepped and ready.”

Sighing and admitting defeat, I did as I was told and began preparing for the interview that would now make or break my career as there would be questions as to why I’m not in this season.

CHAPTER 16

Kimberly

The drive back was a quiet one. I assumed the uber driver was sworn to secrecy, as he barely said a word other than hello. During the ride I tried desperately not to flick through my phone. Crystal had already called me ten times by the time we reached the BC-99, and was heading home to Merrifort.

I had managed to get the rink manager on the phone after a couple of tries and asked if I could take a few days leave. She had seen the news and although it sounded like she wanted to ask a million questions, no doubt to tell the local book club filled with gossip, she agreed to my emergency leave.

I hated canceling lessons, the girls needed me, but I needed time to process yesterday. I would either offer extra hours or refund the girls' parents to make up for it. To my surprise, once I sent the group chat a message about not being in until Friday, they all seemed to understand. The girls were a little grateful for the extra time to work on their routines.

When the uber driver pulled up next to my drive, I wasn’t surprised to see Crystal sitting on the porch. The moment I stepped out of the car, Daisy came to greet me.

“Fun time?” Crystal asked with a smile on her face as I walked up the porch steps.

I didn’t say a word, just headed on inside. I was exhausted, I needed a shower and a cup of coffee. I had raced out of that hotel room so fast; I didn’t even have a chance to brush my teeth. I didn’t think my morning would have begun in a PR mess up.

“You okay, hun?”

Crystal followed me in as I plonked myself down on my sofa. Daisy joined me instantly and placed her head on my lap. I felt this overwhelming need to cry, shout, or maybe both, I wasn’t sure. Pouring a cup of coffee for me, Crystal held it out to me shortly after and sat next to me and Daisy. I wasn’t sure where to start.

Explaining how the day went and the fact I did enjoy myself, there was no denying it. Deep down the teenager who was madly in love with Samuel was over the moon to be in his company again.

“So, you left without speaking to him?”

“Yep. I didn’t know what to say, I was so mad and upset. I didn’t think for one second this was going to happen, all I wanted to do was go back to work and live out my days.”

“Wow. You sound a bit like an old lady there, maybe you should move to the woods in a cottage and adopt loads of cats.” Crystal joked, trying to raise a laugh out of me.

“Mind you, that does sound peaceful.”

She finished off and that did make me laugh a little. Megan, Lacy, Jasmine, and she would make the perfect little witches hiding in the woods. Like those magical witch sisters in Charmed or Practical Magic.

“I’m sorry your morning ended this way, but honestly Kim, you can’t blame him for this. Yes, maybe you shouldn’t be making out in open public spaces, but hey if it’s what the heart wants.”

“It’s not what the heart wants.”

“Oh, piss off will you. You cannot deny there is some serious chemistry between you two and I know, I know Luke was your great love, but Sam is your first love and that means something. I remember how hung up you were over him.”
