Joseph and Beth had already texted me multiple times over the weekend asking where this was, when was this coming, and so many more wedding related questions. I knew I’d get the third degree when I arrived home as mom was still not speaking to me.

The only ones who seemed remotely happy with Sam and I kinda seeing each other. Or are we together now? I wasn’t too sure on the technicalities of everything, the girls group chat hadn’t stopped messaging. Especially when I sent a photograph of a topless Sam lying in bed, they nearly lost their shit.

“Friday will arrive before we know it. We both have a busy week planned and don’t forget,” leaning up on my toes to whisper in his ear, “I have a very pretty dress that I will need help getting out of.”

His smile grew as he hugged me tightly, nuzzling his head into my neck and I swore if he hugged me any tighter, he would break something.

“Come on lovebirds.” Shouted Katelyn as she headed through the gate.

Flashes of cameras came from the waiting room as some photographers had followed us from the hotel, Sam let go of me and as much as I wanted him to kiss me goodbye, I knew he wouldn’t. We already discussed public displays and keeping them at the minimum was for the best.

“I will see you back home.”

His sheepish smile was the last thing I saw as I went through the gate and boarded the plane. He would be kept busy this week as Katelyn and Paula had already told him he had multiple interviews lined up and when he arrived Friday, the charity game would need discussing.

They had arranged the game to be just after Christmas but before New year’s. During that odd week everyone had post-Christmas where you didn’t know what day or time it even was. It was a good idea to do it then, it meant the town would be busy, we’d have lots of footfall and it gave everyone something to do.

Before I turned my phone off, it buzzed just as the plane began taxiing and Sam’s name flashed up, his words leaving me with a blush and a small smile.

Miss those lips already. See you soon my little skater.

I hadn’t realized until he called me that in the shower that was the nickname he gave me back in high school. I most certainly was his little skater and always would be.

CHAPTER 23

Samuel

Hitting the gym was the last thing I wanted to do after all the workouts over the weekend with Kim. Yet here I was, running the treadmill as it was leg day. Already I was feeling ready to fall over as my legs went jelly like. Louis sat on the bench next to me pulling weights, Jason was on the bench-press, with Duncan spotting for him, James was working on some cardio and Ryan was going fast and hard on the rowing machine.

No one said a word.

No one asked me questions.

Louis, I could see, was desperate for me to spill the tea on why I didn’t answer any calls or texts, why I hadn’t gone training the following day and why Chris was making me do more work today as punishment.

The music blasted through our gym speakers loudly and helped drown out any thoughts I had of Kim. Imagining her body pressed up against mine, her mouth around my cock. Shaking my head as the thoughts came, I began to run a little faster, picking up speed until they disappeared.

“So, you’re really not gonna tell us what happened then over the weekend?” Jason asked as he did his last rep.

“Nothing to tell.”

“Bullshit, and you know it. You didn’t even answer Paula and we all know she doesn’t like being ignored.” Jason stood from the bench and patted himself dry with his towel. The others stopped their workouts to listen in.

“Ah ha, yeah, I haven’t heard the end of that, trust me.”

“Seriously though bro, what happened? Can you at least tell us you got some.”

Ryan annoyingly smiled as he pretended to hump the air. He still had that immature frat boy energy. At some point, I had been just like him. Back before I realized I couldn’t carry on screwing myself through a never ending line of women and wanted to settle down one day.

Maybe I could settle down with Kim if she wanted to.

“Yeah. I got some and plenty more after that.”

“WHAYYY!!”

All the guys, well aside from Duncan as he very rarely made a peep, all cheered sarcastically as if I were a virgin who had just lost his V card. Shaking my head and laughing them off, I headed to the changing rooms. Like a group of teenage girls, they followed, all still eager to learn more.

I was finally able to hit the showers then get ready shortly afterwards. I eagerly waited for the text from Kim to say she had got home safely, which wouldn’t be for another few hours. Paula had already called me to say I had a talk show this afternoon. This interview was to promote the charity event, and to announce the teams that will be joining.
