“You do? I was expecting you to be too busy with starting your garage,” she said, her eyes telling me everything as she looked at me nervously. She thought I was going to reject her now. How could I ever do that? My heart was already hers. I wanted to spend every free moment I had with this beautiful woman and her son.

“We will make it work. This may seem fast, Marnie, but I’ve been falling in love with you from the first moment I saw you. My heart is yours, and I want to be your partner in all things. I want to be the man Sam can count on.”

“Gabriel, do you mean that? Truly?” She caressed my face as she looked into my eyes. The happiness and love I saw in her eyes filled my heart to bursting.

“Truly, baby. I want us to be together to be the family we each need.” I leaned down and captured her lips, unable to contain myself.

Breaking the kiss, she reached up and caressed my lips with a finger before she looked into my eyes. “I want you in my life, Gabriel.”

“Exclusively?” I asked with a hopeful smile. At her shy nod, I tell her against her lips, “You’re mine, beautiful.”

Epilogue

Marnie

“Sam?” I called out as I looked at the mess in the living room. That boy of mine was as bad as Gabriel was. Those two could mess up a room with a single breath.

“Yeah, Momma?” I heard coming from the garage. We moved in with Gabriel when my lease was up. We decided to forego a normal church wedding, neither of us really wanted to waste the money, so we just went to the Justice of Peace. Now I was Marnie Callum and as soon as the adoption was finalized Sam would have his last name as well.

“What did I say about leaving messes in the living room?”

Sam sighed deeply as he came into the room. “Clean up one room before I destroy another one. But Momma, Daddy needed my help.”

“Don’t you put that on me, you little booger. I get into enough trouble with Momma as it is,” Gabriel growled as he joined the conversation.

I put my hands on my wide hips and narrowed my eyes at both of them. “I don’t care whose fault it is, wash your greasy hands and clean it up, young man. It’s almost time for dinner.”

“Okay, sorry Momma.” I watched as he slunk off to the bathroom.

Turning to Gabriel, my narrowed eyes made him start to fidget. “What was that, Gabriel Callum?”

“Umm… male bonding?”

Before I could reply, the swift kick in my belly at the sound of his voice, took my breath away. “At least this one is a girl so I won’t have to deal with ‘male bonding’ on my own.”

Gabriel leaned down and placed a kiss on my belly. “Be nice to your Momma, princess. She’s the best Momma ever. Love you, princess.” I smiled, my pregnancy hormones making my eyes tear up. “She’s going to be as in love with her Daddy as Sam is.”

“What about you?” Gabriel smirked as he moved even closer to me.

I giggled as I caressed his cheek. “Oh, I have them all beat. I love my man with everything that I am. Heart, soul, and mind.”

As his lips crashed onto mine, I knew Santa had truly answered every Christmas wish I’d ever had by giving me this wonderful man in my life. Together we had everything we ever needed.
