Thankfully, his flight was scheduled to leave tomorrow. But she could not put off breaking up with him. She had to do it now. She just had to.

With a heaviness in her chest, she pushed herself out of bed.

She felt momentarily self-conscious that she stood, feeling his gaze roaming over her naked body.

“Don’t,” she said, scampering over to the closet. She threw the doors open and grabbed a dress, holding it over her body.

“What? It’s nothing I haven’t seen. And tasted.”

“Yes. But I’m embarrassed now.”

“You don’t ever have to be embarrassed in front of me.”

He threw the covers off and made a rather blatant display of masculinity as he stood up, stretching, each and every muscle shifting and bunching with the movement.

“Can I use your shower?”

“Yes,” she said.

“Can I use it with you?”

She blinked. “Together?”

“Showering with another person is one of life’s great joys.”

She bristled. “I don’t like that.”

“What? The idea of showering with me?”

“No. The reminder that you’ve done all this with other people.”

He frowned. “I’m sorry. That’s not what I meant by that. At all. I was trying to put you at ease. I wasn’t trying...”

“I know.”

“Can I show you?”

She bit her lip and then nodded.

He walked into the bathroom and she couldn’t help herself. She took a leisurely visual tour of the musculature of his back and the perfect firm roundness of his butt. Along with his thick, muscular thighs.

He was glorious.

The epitome of male beauty. He made every classical sculpture ashamed to exist. He turned the water on and she crept into the bathroom, the tiny space suddenly feeling wholly inadequate as she stood there staring at him.

He grinned, wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her against him. He kissed her until the water heated up, and then he dragged her inside beneath the spray. Their skin was slick like yesterday, but there was nothing between them, and they weren’t freezing. He lathered her with soap until she was in a near sexual frenzy.

Then he rinsed her off and kissed her firmly when they stepped out of the shower. “You have places to be.”

She smacked his shoulder. “That’s not fair. You turned me into a...a horny ferret.”

“A horny ferret?” He laughed.

“I work with ferrets. Believe me, it is an apt description.”

“Well, get along, little weasel. We have forever.”

The words almost stunned her. Because yes. She’d said that she was going to marry him. So they did have forever, she supposed. It was wild. Wonderful. Intense. She didn’t quite know what to do with it. Didn’t quite know what to make of it.
