I feel her pussy spasm around me and I groan, my cock giving a few extra jerks to send her over the edge again, and in that moment, my knot swells inside her to the fullest, pushing down on her g-spot until she cries out my name, her whole body arching as I continue to thrust up into her. I jerk one more time, and then I feel myself empty inside her, our mingled arousal filling her completely with my knot locked inside her.

Her jaw drops as she rests her forehead against mine, her arms around my neck. "Was that...the heat...it was you?"

I nod. "Yeah...you just made me come so fucking hard, baby. You feel so fucking good."

She lets out a throaty laugh and spreads her legs wide to wrap around my waist, my knot still hard as a rock and trapped inside her.

"Take me to bed," she breathes into my ear, nibbling on my earlobe.

So I do just that.

Well aware of the fact that I won't be sleeping tonight.

Chapter five

Porter

EmmaWorthingtonissafefor now, which means that I can get down to business tracking the ex-ACB agents hiding out on the property of Sanctuary Summit.

I've been tracking them for months, hunting the bastards from what feels like sea to shining goddamn sea. They fled Solstice Bay during the summer, headed up north to the Great Lakes, and then across the plains of the west. It seemed like there was no rhyme or reason to what they were doing. They just wanted to get away.

But now I know that isn't the case at all.

They're looking forher--Ambrose Worthington's heir--because they want his money back to bankroll their attempts to win back Solstice Bay.

I check the cameras I planted in Emma's room, making sure that she's still with the groundskeeper before I head out into the snow in the middle of the night. There's a break in the storm, and the snow sparkles light blue in the moonlight as I walk toward the ski lodge. That was the last place I saw them--posing as employees, moving between the kitchen and...well, someplace else.

It has to be where they're hiding out.

And I'm going to find them.

The ski lodge is empty and quiet when I get there, but I'm not fooled by the silence. I can hear the sound of breathing coming from somewhere deep within the building. I reach for my gun, feeling the cold metal against my palm. It's a comforting weight, assuring me that I have the upper hand in this situation.

I slink through the shadows, my eyes adjusting to the dimness of the interior. The floor creaks beneath my feet, and I hold my breath, cursing myself for not being more stealthy. I can't afford to give myself away now.

That's when I see them--three dark figures huddled around a table in the back. They're poring over maps and blueprints, whispering amongst each other. I can't hear what they're saying, so I creep closer in the darkness, plastering myself against the wall and listening intently.

"The weakest point in the whole place is the heat spa," one of them says. "The alphas there aren't in their right mind, the omegas are in heat...we could easily snatch her from there."

"If she even goes."

"She will," one of them snickers. "The omegas here...they're too comfortable. Let's show them why they're wrong."

"Did you know the owner here--that Toure bitch--she gave money to the resistance in Solstice Bay," the first one says. "Teach her a lesson about meddling where she doesn't belong by snatching one of her omegas right out from under her."

The three men laugh, and I narrow my eyes. It would be smart to take them out right here and now--take them by surprise--but I don't know if I can. I'm outnumbered, and if I fail, no one will know these men are going after Emma Worthington. The only clue I left her was that note, and I don't think she took that very seriously at all.

But that might not be up to me...because my foot creaks on the wood floor and one of them jerks their head up.

"Did you hear that?"

Shit.

I freeze in place, my hand still gripping my gun. The three men stand up, scanning the room for any sign of intrusion. They're armed, too--I can see the glint of metal under their jackets.

I weigh my options. If I run, they'll chase me. If I fight, I'll have to take all three of them down at once. But if I can't get to them first, Emma's in danger.

I step forward, into the light.
