It takes a few read-throughs before I’m able to decipher the hasty scribble. When I finally decode who she means by “Levi” and figure out the word “steal,” my scream of rage sends the wrath demons scattering like spooked birds.

Whirling around with the note clutched in my fist, I turn to Elena and her friends.

“Enough with the subterfuge. Enough with this infernal marching. Those of you who can’t fly or port, gather around me. We’re going to the heart of Envy, and we’re going to kill Leviathan.”

Elena rolls her blue eyes. “About damn time. Any particular reason we didn’t just plane shift there from Wrath?”

I level a glare at her, but My Love’s sister remains fearless. “It had been my hope to gather intel before surprising My Brother with our arrival, but the time for strategizing is over.” I hold up the rag. “She got a note to me, through one of the wrath demons. She says the baby is close, that Leviathan plans to steal her away from Callie at her birth.”

Her slender human hands clench into fists at her sides. “That fucker’s not getting my niece.” Her eyes widen, and she whips around to look at Molli. “Wait a sec! It’s barely been a few days that we’ve been marching! How is the baby already close?”

Molli simply shrugs and says, “Interdimensional physics, I guess.”

Elena taps her lip in thought. “Yo, Asmodeus, can You Guys control the time in Your Realms? Y’know, could You speed up time in Lust if You wanted to?”

I blink slowly as my train of thought follows hers. “We can. You don’t think …”

“Fuck yeah, I do.”

“Think what?” The Alpha wolf, Holden, shifts back first as the wolves return from their scouting. Oily green envy blood coats his jaw and chin, running down his thick neck and bare chest.

Unfazed by the blood or his nudity, Elena calmly explains. “We think Leviathan is speeding up time in His corner of Hell to move Callie’s baby along.”

Holden’s brow furrows in confusion. “Huh?”

“My Brother is adjusting the flow of time in Envy. While we have spent mere days on our march towards Envy, months have passed there.” I hand him the bloody note to read and inspect. His ocean-blue eyes scan the rag before he brings it to his nose and sniffs.

“Well, there’s a slight scent of distress, a mild panic, but not much. I’d say the only reason she used blood to write this is because she didn’t have a pen handy.” He inhales again, deeper. “Molli’s right; she’s pregnant. I smell the same hormones that Cherry had when she was pregnant with the twins. She smells healthy, if a little gamy. I’d wager they haven’t really let her bathe much this whole time.”

A low growl rumbles in my throat. “He hasn’t let her bathe in months?”

The Alpha cocks his head to the side. “Yes, but no. The scent isn’t so strong to indicate months of not showering. To smell this rag, you’d think she had only been there a few days. My uneducated guess? I think He’s only fucking with time a little bit. Depending on how precise You Guys are with that, I bet He’s speeding up the time inside Callie’s body only.”

I scratch my chin with a clawed hand. “It’s possible, in theory. Molli, how often is Callie eating?”

She shrugs. “Every hour or so, I guess? Enough to accommodate for faster caloric burn if that’s what You’re thinking.”

“It is.”

“Questions is: How does this knowledge benefit us? How can we use it against Leviathan?”

My Son Arman answers Elena’s query before I can. “That kind of precision has to be taking a toll on Leviathan. Even on His home turf, He’s going to be weakened.”

Samsher nods and turns to me. “You may be weaker outside of Your Domain, Father, but You also now have two Domains, two Sins. You can best Your Brother. You can defeat Him. You can kill Him.”

Excitement ripples through the troops as word spreads. It’s one thing to march towards all-out war, but marching towards victory? That’s something else entirely.

Wrath demons take to the air by the thousands, along with many of My Children. Some of the incubi and succubi choose to port directly into Leviathan’s territory with myself and the Earth warriors.

Before we shift across the infernal plane, a sudden idea has me turning to Oren, the blue-haired, water-touched fae male.

“Oren, the majority of My Brother’s Realm lies underwater. Callie is being kept in a tower that rises above the surface, but the rest of His Castle is submerged. Do you think you can manipulate the waters in and around the castle to give us a point of entry? Leviathan surely has wards around the tower preventing me from materializing there, but He wouldn’t expect His Castle to empty and Our Forces to appear inside.”

Oren rubs his chin. “In theory I could, but that would mean I’d be out of the fight. I can’t maintain the necessary concentration if I’m in combat.”

Molli puts her arms around her lover’s neck. “We’ve got you, babe. Kalen, Finn, and I will be your guards.” The other two fae nod, and that part of the plan is set.

Next, I approach the wolves, addressing Cherry and Holden, the Alphas. “I know envy demons taste horribly bitter, but if you four would be so kind as to help guide me to the correct tower, I would be in your debt. Your sense of smell is second to none, and all of you are familiar with Callie’s scent.”
